TimeMachine restore "No volumes found in backup"



I am trying to restore from a TimeMachine backup. I can connect to the NAS from the mac boot process, and see the user's MacBook listed that I want to restore from.

But under that, it says "No volumes found in backup"


I checked on the NAS disk itself, and can see there is a recent TimeMachine backup.


I just updated firmwared to 6.10.5 but that did not help.


Note that I can see volumes for other users' machines on the TimeMachine NAS disk, so there appears to be something wrong with the backup for the particulare user/machine I am interested in. Apple are not willing to provide any support for 3rd party NAS Timemachine usage.


Any ideas what else I can check? Thanks in advance.
