UI offline after attempt uninstall app on 6.2.1
After my update I did not seem to have a problem. My problem occurred after installing then uninstalling the application 'Contacts and Calendars Server'. I can now no longer log into the admin web page at all. When I try to get to it via a browser, it says it does not connect. There is no login window that pops up, nothing. I have no access to controlling the RN104 any more. I can see my files on the various shares but but I cannot access the admin interface at all.
Problems did occur after a reboot after uninstalling the app. During the uninstall, the process kept "spinning" (would disconnect from the device and said it could not access it. That went on for about a half hour.) During that time I did not have access to the UI. I tried closing the browser and reopen it, but that did not let me have access to the UI. I then reboot and I then got messages that said that the browser could not connect. It would not even come up with a login window. And that is where I am now. No control to the RN104, but i still have access to the data. I only have the antivirus and the SMB apps installed. (If you don't count the calendar/contact app that did not uninstall that started this whole string of events for me.)

This sounds like the app has affected the apache config. Have you tried an OS Reinstall from boot menu. http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/22891 (this does not erase data, resets some OS files, network config and admin password)
We have put in protection in the past to stop this sort of occurrence relating to an app but will get this app tested to see if there is something else.

Re: UI offline after attempt uninstall app on 6.2.1
I have experienced this (UI inaccessible after App uninstall) on HTOP, PHPMyAdmin, ReadyNas Photos II plus several others that need a web interface. Reinstalling the app from ssh command line fixes.
The 6.2.1 RCs have the problem (tho I dont think I tried RC1) - I have rolled back to 6.2.0 and problem goes away.

This is still a problem for 6.2.2 rc1 - at least for ReadyNAS Photos II

Re: UI offline after attempt uninstall app on 6.2.1
I had the same problem with another app and it is easy to resolve if you have access to the ssh console.
The uninstalled app removed its apache config in /etc/apache2/sites-available but did not remove the symbolic link in /etc/apache2/sites-enabled.
After removing the symbolic link to the missing config, apache started just fine.

I've got this same issue with mine, after trying to uninstall "Log Analyser".

I just tried this again to see if that would help. I still have an "unable to connect" response on the web browser.
mdgm has PMed me and he asked me if I had done what you had suggested. I'll be getting back to him with this same message and other things that he requested.
Thanks for moving my responses to a new thread and responding to posts. You guys are doing good work. Thanks again. 🙂

Re: UI offline after attempt uninstall app on 6.2.1
I am facing the same problem as many of you:
- No GUI sinceI uninstalled an application
- I don't have SSH installed
I have done an "OS Reinstall" but it doesn't seem to fix the issue and I still can't access the GUI.
Is the "OS reinstall" trick always working? (which would mean I didn't proceed correctly)
Is there an other way to fix the problem? ("mdgm", can you please post the procedure you suggested to "I_Need_Help"?)
Many thanks

The uninstalled app symbol link needs to be removed manually in /etc/apache2/sites-enabled, NETGEAR support engineer can help you to do this.

Re: UI offline after attempt uninstall app on 6.2.1
...Okay, so I'm having a problem with Plex. It says failed to initialize. That's really beside the point. My thought is to uninstall it and reinstall it. Unfortunately, after running into this problem (no frontview after uninstall with a different app) and having mdgm fix it (THANK YOU AGAIN!!!) I don't really want to uninstall the app and lose access and not be able to do anything. Is this symbolic link something I can fix myself? I haven't done anything as of yet, but knowing what will happen, I want to be prepared.

Just an update... I updated to 6.2.2 and Plex started working again for whatever reason. I'm still interested in figuring out how to fix this so I can uninstall a few other apps without having to bother anyone to fix it for me.

Re: UI offline after attempt uninstall app on 6.2.1
You have to enable ssh under System - Settings - Services. Ignore the warning.
Log into ssh with user "root" and your admin-user password.
In directory /etc/apache2 you will find -among others- two subdirectories: sites-available and sites-enabled.
In sites-available are the configuration files for all configured apache websites.
In sites-enabled are symbolic links for all active websites to the corresponding files in sites-available.
Delete the symbolic link in sites-enabled, which was left after the uninstall and has no corresponding config file in sites-available.
Apache should now be able to start:
/etc/init.d/apache2 start

Re: UI offline after attempt uninstall app on 6.2.1
This happened on my 314 after installing "Log Analyzer". I have no access to the admin UI. I do not have SSH enabled. OS Reinstall from the Boot Menu did not appear to help. What can I do?

Re: UI offline after attempt uninstall app on 6.2.1
I am facing the same issue. Running the latest version of the firmware, attempted to uninstall an App and the dashboard / admin panel crashed. Have been unable to re-connect despite restarting the NAS.
SSH wasn't enabled when it crashed which means I can't try the suggestions mentioned earlier. I can still access the shares and data from within Windows, but other than that it's a dead-duck.
Any support appreciated!

Re: UI offline after attempt uninstall app on 6.2.1
You'll have to call Netgear tech support and have them remotely access your system to remove the offending files/symlinks.
To allow the tech remote access, you will have to access the Tech Support mode from the Boot Menu. Instructions on how to access that are here (if you're using an RN102 like your profile says): http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detai ... RibQ%3D%3D
You can also appeal to mdgm. After I lodged a case with Netgear tech support and posted my issue on the forum, he contacted me and he was able to remotely login. Had me up and running in just a few minutes. His presence on these forums and in the ReadyNAS community is invaluable.

Re: UI offline after attempt uninstall app on 6.2.1
Many thanks for the pointer. I have contacted Tech Support who are going to attempt to fix it remotely and I have to leave the NAS in Tech Support mode until they let me know it's complete.
I'm assuming that I can make this easier in future by enabling SSH so that I can fix this myself?

Yeah, I'd enable it. Initially I'd disabled it out of paranoia, but after this and other similar incidents, it's probably best to keep it enabled.

Re: UI offline after attempt uninstall app on 6.2.1
Thanks.
Tech Support did some work last night and asked me to restart this morning, sadly it's still broken. I pointed them at the PhpSysinfo app being the culprit, but maybe they did something else.
Its looking like I might have to do a back up and factory reset 😞
