Ultra 4 Running out of Space
I have an Ultra 4 configured as X-raid2. I am at 78% of data used and figured I might want to get in front of an upgrade while I'm not in a huge rush.
Reading some similar posts it seems I should do the following.
Replace any of the 2TB disks with a 3TB disk. Let the unit resync and then restart and that will give me more space.
Did I get it right? Is it that easy?
Thanks

Re: Ultra 4 Running out of Space
You have 4x2TB disks installed? You will need to replace one disk with a 3TB disk, wait for the resync to complete, replace another 3TB disk, wait for the resync to complete, reboot, wait 5-10 minutes and if expansion has not yet started reboot once more.
X-RAID2 volumes are redundant and can only be expanded when redundant space can be added, so that if any one disk fails data remains intact. You would end up with two layers, one being 4x2TB and the other 2x1TB.
Take a look at the XRAID Volume Size Calculator (see link in my sig).
