Ultra Plus Upgrade from Beta 6.1.9 to Release 6.1.9

I just downloaded and rebooted the release firmware from the latest beta and the unit appears to be working away but it's not found on the network. My Wake On Lan utility reports it being offline. Should it take more than a few minutes to upgrade? If not, any suggestions?

Mine took less than 5 minutes. How long has it been booting?

Longer than that... I can hear the disk being accessed and the LAN light(s) flash a touch. I installed RAIDar and it doesn't find it either.

The disk activity winks once in a while for a short period of time and the NIC flashes in short bursts almost as they are in a loop per se. Their activity never seems to vary...

Has it booted yet?

If not, put the NAS in tech support mode, let me know your agreement to http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/20932/~/netgear-remote-access-policy and let me know the 5-digit port number e.g. via PM.

I don't know if it ever rebooted as it's in the other room and I wasn't watching. Now the NIC light is pretty much flashing non-stop so it appears something is going on...

Can you ping it?

Can you SSH to it (if you enabled SSH)?

Re: Ultra Plus Upgrade from Beta 6.1.9 to Release 6.1.9

Which model is this? If it is a 4-bay or 6-bay then looking at what is on the display on the front of the NAS would be helpful.

Edit: Oops. I see by searching through your posts you have a legacy 2-bay.

Yep.. a Ultra Plus 2 bay. Where do I find the port number? And which lights are for service mode?

See http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/21100

The 5-digit port would show in the Info (far right) column in RAIDar when booted into tech support mode.

Don't think I could see anything wrong apart from some issues that suggested there may be a network problem.

If it doesn't come up right perhaps we can try Teamviewer.

Re: Ultra Plus Upgrade from Beta 6.1.9 to Release 6.1.9

Just came up fine... looking around. From the log it appears it rebooted fine during the upgrade...

Fri Sep 19 2014 20:10:38
System: ReadyNASOS background service started.
Fri Sep 19 2014 20:08:25
System: The system is rebooting.

Here's where you rebooted it...

Fri Sep 19 2014 21:47:47
System: ReadyNASOS background service started.
Fri Sep 19 2014 21:47:46
System: ReadyNASOS service or process was restarted.

I presume using a fixed IP wouldn't matter... what type of network issue(s) did you see? If it would help in anyway I could retry the upgrade again... if it's perhaps a generic issue not unique to me.

And I much appreciate you taking a look!

Re: Ultra Plus Upgrade from Beta 6.1.9 to Release 6.1.9

It couldn't find the apt archive which sounds like a DNS or Gateway issue.

If it helps it has a fixed IP address off of a switch then a DD-WRT router (doing DHCP) which is connected to a Internet gateway/router.

I think I can handle your PM. Thanks again.

Re: Ultra Plus Upgrade from Beta 6.1.9 to Release 6.1.9

I probably should have suggested simply doing a reboot initially. When a NAS gets stuck during an upgrade sometimes a reboot fixes it.

It appears to be working great. Accessed it today for several hours without a issue. I appreciate you taking a look... hopefully I'll be getting a Pro before long. For some reason I enjoy playing around with these older models.
