Uncontrolled power-ups with RN Pro after Raidar Upg.
After upgrading my ReadyNAS Pro to RAIDiator 4.2.12, I now experience uncontrolled system starts.
System now boots up uncontrolled at least three times a day when turned off.
Of course, scheduler an WoL are disabled.
Any ideas what that might be caused from?
Thanx & Best Regards

Re: Uncontrolled power-ups with RN Pro after Raidar Upg.
i had the very same issue with 4.2.12. the nas booted up totally out of the blue whenever it felt leike it.
downgrading to 4.2.11 solved that issue and it fixed another problem for me as well. 4.2.12 reports cpu temps 5°C higher than 4.2.11, which can cause the nas to generate warings about cpu-temp.

Re: Uncontrolled power-ups with RN Pro after Raidar Upg.
I also have the same problem with the PRO turning on a few minutes after it turns off from a scheduled shutdown. I ended up turning off the auto power feature until they come up with a fix. I also noticed that the PRO was giving me the temperature warnings with new 4.2.12 firmware. I hope they come out with the fix soon.

Re: Uncontrolled power-ups with RN Pro after Raidar Upg.
I also just realized that the RNP from time to time refuses to boot up properly and simply hangs.
Pulling the plug for 30Sec helped, but this workaround is nothing to live with.
I´ll asap downgrade to 4.2.11 and wait for a fix.
Thanx!

Re: Uncontrolled power-ups with RN Pro after Raidar Upg.
Do you have any power schedule set up? If so, how is it configured, and if not, have you had it configured previously? Do you see anything in your logs (from the logs page in Frontview) indicating a scheduled power up?

Re: Uncontrolled power-ups with RN Pro after Raidar Upg.
As I said: there was NO schedule activated, Wake on LAN was disabled.
I also encountered the temperature warning mentioned earlier in this thread.
Booting successfully was a gamble, each time - half of my attemps failed.
I just downgraded to .11 and realized that my AFP access rights were all lost.
I am currently re-assigning access-rights and hope that .11 will run as stable as
prior to the upgrade.
Any suggestions?
Thanx & Greets,
Lars

Re: Uncontrolled power-ups with RN Pro after Raidar Upg.
I have my schedule set up M-F turn on at 15:00 and off at 22:00. Sat and Sun turn on at 09:00 and off at 22:00. This was the same schedule with the previous firmware before the upgrade and it worked flawless. Now with the current firmware after a few minutes of shutting down, it turns itself back on. The WOL is not enabled. Log just states system power on schedule for (next schedule day) 15:00 a few minutes after it shuts down.

Re: Uncontrolled power-ups with RN Pro after Raidar Upg.
That looks like a pretty standard schedule. I'll schedule a daily power on/off on my Pro and see if I can reproduce it.

Re: Uncontrolled power-ups with RN Pro after Raidar Upg.
My NAS powered off last night and backup on this morning as expected. I'll leave the schedule in place and see what happens. For those not using a schedule, are you powering off with the power button or through Frontview?

Re: Uncontrolled power-ups with RN Pro after Raidar Upg.
I had no schedule configured and the function was disabled.
My RNP was powered down manually and via Frontview - same result.
In both cases, the system powered up outonomously and without a certain scheme.
Downgrading helped by the way. .2.11 appears to be trouble-free again.

Re: Uncontrolled power-ups with RN Pro after Raidar Upg.
i always power down with the button 🙂 and 4.2.11 cures the problem entirely.
first i thought it might be my betaunit again, like the last time when i had problems.
but reading the same stuff from other users proves otherwise 🙂

Re: Uncontrolled power-ups with RN Pro after Raidar Upg.
ewok wrote: For those not using a schedule, are you powering off with the power button or through Frontview?
In my case, it doesn't seem to matter how the ReadyNAS is powered off (I tried both from FrontView and using the power button). I experience the random power up (sometimes a few minutes after the shutdown, sometimes a few hours later). It also doesn't matter whether the network cables are plugged in or not. So it's definitely not WOL that's causing this.
I started seeing there random power-ups after the upgrade to 4.2.11. Netgear support asked me to upgrade to 4.2.12 to see if that would fix the issue and it hasn't. I might try reverting back to 4.2.11 since some folks have had better luck with that version. (Netgear support has also suggested upgrading to 4.2.13beta ...)
I also have WOL and the schedule DISABLED.
Is the downgrade to 4.2.11 the best fix for this issue so far?
Thanks.

Re: Uncontrolled power-ups with RN Pro after Raidar Upg.
I installed 4.2.13 hoping this would fix the uncontrolled power ups on my readynas pro but it didn't. Performed a factory default after backing up and still the same problem with 4.2.13. I guess im stuck with using 4.2.11.

Re: Uncontrolled power-ups with RN Pro after Raidar Upg.
After some experimenting with firmware 4.2.13 installed, my random power ON's after a scheduled power off at 22:00 hrs on my ReadyNas Pro and 3200 so far stopped for the first time since the firmware upgrade after zeroing out the power ON's and clicking apply, then entering the scheduled ON time again and enabling WOL. Previously, WOL was always disabled and after a scheduled shutdown, a few minutes later it would just start to power on by itself and boot up. The only fix was to downgrade to firmware 4.2.11 which was very stable with the power schedule. Can the Jedi Guru's look into the relationship with the WOL and the scheduled power off's to find and fix the bug in the firmware and hopefully release a new update with the fix.

Try taking off the both network cables and see if it's keep powering up.

I have no idea. I have two units and one unit is acting like that. I just reconnect two network cables and give a try again.

Re: Uncontrolled power-ups with RN Pro after Raidar Upg.
My readyNAS Pro would not have uncontrolled power-ups with 4.2.12 or 4.2.13. BUT my readyNAS Pro would not always auto power up after upgrading with either 4.2.12 or 4.2.13. I also had issues with disk spin down (system would be unresponsive) with 4.2.13, so I had to disable disk spin down.
I downgraded to 4.2.11 and all these problems went away.

I understand. But since 4.2.11 solved my problems and meets my needs, I'm not going to open a new ticket or attempt to debug this problem. My comment's main purpose was to inform that I have the same uncontrolled power-ups problem with FW versions 4.2.12 and 4.2.13 (problem replication).
Furthermore, I appreciate this post since it provided me information on what FW (4.2.11) to use to have my system stable again.

Re: Uncontrolled power-ups with RN Pro after Raidar Upg.
I too have this issue 😞
I used the power timer, but now due to this bug I'm forced to stop the readynas manually and then use the power switch to prevent it from booting 😞
hope this can be fixed soon since I'm a lazy guy 🙂
