Hot mounted USB drives still randomly are not recognised resulting in USB_HDD_1 (or 2 ...) being created in /media
I also notice a folder /._share in /media
This in turn has folders USB_HDD_1 (or 2 ...) . These folders contain files:
ftp.conf
nfs.conf
samba.conf
While no USB device is connected can I delete /media/._share/USB_HDD_1 (or 2 ...)

Those files would be there for the system to remember settings for when the disk is next connected.
If I may add also, you can try using the beta firmware to see if it will help with the USB detection issue.
