Using Mac - Getting "Unable to access remote path"

I'm trying to backup some shares from my iMac. I can get to it fine from my windows machine and when I setup a backup job and click test connection it comes back fine.

When I start the job it fails... here's the logs:

Job: 007
Protocol: cifs
Source: //192.168.0.127/myusername
Destination: [Backups]/1ST-FLOOR/myusername

Backup failed. Tue Aug 16 11:03:08 EDT 2011.

Reason for failure:
Unable to access remote path //192.168.0.127/myusername.

Is this the right way to backup a mac share? Should I be doing something else here?

TIA!

Running Ultray-6 with RAIDiator 4.2.19-T4

BTW I tried going into the nas SSH and could issue the commands:

NAS-ULTRA6:~# smbclient \\\\192.168.0.127\\myusername mypassword -U myusername
Domain=[myusername-IMAC] OS=[Darwin] Server=[@(#)PROGRAM:smbd PROJECT:smbx-103]

So it would appear to me that the box CAN access the share from the mac ... just the backup is having issues do this?.?.?

Re: Using Mac - Getting "Unable to access remote path"

The cifs-ab protocol uses smbclient, so you may want to try that. Timestamp would use mount.cifs underneath.

Re: Using Mac - Getting "Unable to access remote path"

I'm not following you... where would I try the cifs-ab protocol? I only have Remote Windows/NAS and Remote Windows Archive as a selection.

Re: Using Mac - Getting "Unable to access remote path"

I am having the same issue.

This has only happened since I upgraded to Lion on my Mac Mini.

When using the Archival Bit (cifs-ab) option, it completed, but doesn't seem to want to copy or check any subfolders.

EDIT:

I fixed my problem with not reading any sub folders, but now I get a Failed Error.

A snippet from my log is:

Re: Using Mac - Getting "Unable to access remote path"

I'd suggest opening up a ticket with support so they can try and reproduce the issue.

Re: Using Mac - Getting "Unable to access remote path"

Same issue. Also seems to have started since Lion.

Can connect on the 'test' during setup for backup but then backup always fails.

Help!

cifs-ab is Windows Archive Bit.

Re: Using Mac - Getting "Unable to access remote path"

I am having trouble connecting for a backup, too. My Mac Mini is a part of my Media Center at my house. I am looking to backup the media portion of iTunes (it is not part of my Time Machine backup) with this feature. I always get an error about not being able to "access remote path" when I "Test Connection" on the config screen. If I save and run the backup config, I get an unknown error.

I have things setup as follows:

Windows (Archive Bit)

Host = IP address of Mac Mini
Path = Iomega HDD/iTunes Media
Login = User name and password of Admin

The error I am getting is:
Error encountered copying data from remote source path //x.x.x.x/Iomega HDD/iTunes Media ==> /media/Music due to unknown reason. Please see log [Job 002]

Re: Using Mac - Getting "Unable to access remote path"

If you download the system logs and look at the log for the backup job, you should be able to see specific error message for files where the backup failed.
