WAN Access using Explorer?
HI. Couldn't find anything on a search so am posting in hope someone can help
I have a ReadyNAS Drive. I can port forward using my router (virgin superhub) so I can get internet access to the NAS (using the WAN IP address from the hub).
The question is, is there a service I can enable with port forwarding that would allow me to browse the folders on the drive using windows explorer?
Thanks in advance
tim

Re: WAN Access using Explorer?
Many ISPs block the ports used for CIFS for security reasons.
You are better off using HTTPS, FTPS or ReadyNAS remote.

Ah right - I think that may well be the case. Presume that is what ReadyNAS remote is there for.....

Re: WAN Access using Explorer?
Yes, although performance is hit or miss. Personally I use ftps for this (using FileZilla as the client). You do need to manually copy files between the NAS and the PC, but it is drag/drop.
