Looking for info about using the new WD80EFAX 8TB drives in a RN316.
The older WD 8TB drives are on the drive compatibility list, but these aren’t... even though are the replacement for the older drives.
Other posters have mentioned the WD80EFAX drives on other forum posts but on different NetGear hardware.
Anyone used them?
Thanks!

Hi @John_jssbbs
Welcome to the Community!
The WD80EFAX are NAS purposed drives and are new so getting it listed to the Hard disk HCL might take longer. However, this should still be good for use with your RN316.
The possible issue might be with the mounting holes of the WD80EFAX which has the middle hole wherein the tool less bracket of the drive tray does not have. You will have to remove the rear pin or mount the disk using the bottom screws.
You can check this thread regarding the mounting. This is only needed if the WD80EFAX has the same mounts as with the disk mentioned.
Hope this helps!
Regards

Re: WD80EFAX drives in RN316
Now that both have been swapped with working drives, I’ll be replacing drives one-by-one in the RN316 and watching the progress!
