What happened to smbplus addon
Hello What happened to smblus? I upgraded the readynas os to 6.9.4, rebooted, logged on the gui, then hit the button to upgrade smbplus to 1.0.8 from 1.0.7. The addon disappreared off the screen with a vague warning the update didn't work. Then I go to the available addon page and smbplus isn't there.

Re: What happened to smbplus addon
It's on my GUI APPS available page using 6.9.4 and I just installed it as test.
Have you tried clearing your browser cache etc. or another browser?

Re: What happened to smbplus addon
If the app is still available and the upgrade bombed resulting in it disappearing off the installed and available pages, I guess I'll have to putty in and type something to get it back in. I tried. Not a clue how to fix it

is that the reason smbplus upgrade messed up? whats the fix
Well, the error message points in that direction
Setting up rsyslog-mysql
... dpkg: error processing package rsyslog-mysql (--configure)
I'm not seeing any reference to that package in my own logs. You could try uninstalling that from ssh.

Re: What happened to smbplus addon
That didn't work out too well.
I'm just going around in circles typing in commands
But smpplus 1.0.8 popped up on the installed apps gui with the picture gone.
And this error: System: Cannot uninstall application SMB Plus.
cifs access seems to be working fine
Seems I got a lot of cleaning up to do before the next os upgrade. Any clue how to fix this mess?

Re: What happened to smbplus addon
Did you try
apt-get --purge remove rsyslog-mysql
Unfortunately the best way to get a clean OS back is to do a factory reset and restore all the data from backup.

Don't they have a kb or something to step though cleaning things up?
If wiping put all my data and starting from scratch is the answer to fix one lousy addon that wont install/uninstall, this NAS belongs in the garbage.

Re: What happened to smbplus addon
Maybe try
# export DEBIAN_FRONTEND=noninteractive
# apt-get -yq --purge remove rsyslog-mysql
@stevenestrada wrote:

Paid support (my.netgear.com) can rebuild the OS from scratch w/o data loss, but there is no kb article on how to do that, and I don't know the details.
It would be useful for advanced users if it were documented, although I suspect there would also be less advanced users who would accidentally destroy their data when they attempted it. It'd be better if there was a script or boot menu option to do this (perhaps part of the new safe mode?)
FWIW, in my view the issue here is that that rsyslog install scripts weren't correct to begin with, and the app shouldn't have listed as an available app by Netgear.
