What is the Maximum disk size for readyNAS 312

I have a bank of ReadyNAS 312 network backup units. They are currently equipped with 4 TB drives (ie, each holds 2 drives of 4 TB, ie 8 TB total).

I purchased these units a few years back and they have been regularly upgraded and are currently running version 6.10.2 firmware.

I now wish to put in larger discs.

THE QUESTION IS, WHAT IS THE MAXIMUM SIZE DISC THAT THIS UNIT WILL NOW HOLD?

I am a bit confused because some information suggests the maximum is 2 X 6 TB (ie a total of 12 TB). In another place I see 8 TB discs and on the compatibility list I find discs up to a capacity of 16 TB (not sure if that is 2 X 8 TB or 2 X 16 TB).

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Stan

It's confusing because there is no hardware limitation.  The numbers you see were just the largest shipping disks at the time the data sheets were published.  So you can go with 2x16TB if you like.  If you are using XRAID/RAID-1, it will take a while to resync (4x longer than it took for your current configuration).  If you are using JBOD or RAID-0, you will need to back up the data, destory the current volumes, create new one, and restore the data from the backup.
