Wrong username / password on Ready Nas Duo v2

Since I am a grown up, I am not supposed to barge in to this forum and just yell that this product is crap. I really can't say that before I have managed to actually login to it, can I?

Have to admit that that really pissed me off.

Have set up what feels like a hundred NAS-disks at work, and this is my second one at home.

So, I install the disk inside, and hook up the net. Use the raidar and finds the NAS-disk at first try.

According to the manual the username / password should be admin / netgear1.

According to my loginattempts on both Firefox and IE, that is not correct.

Is this an common error?

How do I rectify it? Do I really have to start my ReadyNas career by resetting the tincan before I have been able to log into it?

The password on DUO v2 is password, it is not netgear1.

I think you may have downloaded the wrong manual. The V2 password default is found here: http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/boot/wha ... ry_default
(and http://www.readynas.com/download/docume ... Nov711.pdf)

Re: Wrong username / password on Ready Nas Duo v2

embarrassed right now. there, it passed.

lessons learned today:

1. Download the correct manual.
2. Google the correct username/password.
3. Be humble.
4. Be polite.

Thanks for the help!

The V1 and V2 are very easy to get mixed up.

Evan,
Thank you! Glad I checked this thread before I raised a similar confusion. Do you mean that the default password in the 'Hardware' manual is incorrect?
The 'Hardware' manual (pdf) does show the 'admin/netgear1' login pair on page 33. Thankfully the 'Software' manual for v5.3 (page 11) does show the
'admin/password' login pair. I would like to confirm, please.

I am starting the build and install of a new RND2000-200NAS (diskless). I plan to reuse my now 4yr old Seagate ST3500630AS (my nas spare!) via the
Factory Reset Boot option. This HD most likely has a very old v4.1.x RAIDiator f/w system; which I read is incompatible with the new X-Raid2 format. Fine.
The plan is for this Duo-V2 to be my local Backup target for my current, very happy 4yr old Duo-V1! 😄
Thank you,
Duncan

Yes the hardware manual is incorrect. I'll let chirpa know.

The factory default will wipe the disk but it'll need to be wiped anyway due to the difference in RAID format. Using the factory default boot option is definitely the way to go.

mdgn,
Thank you for the confirm. Made the redline; and, am ready to begin my HD install and initial power on. It is a cheesy, drizzily afternoon here; perfect for a new toy install !! 😄
Suppose I will update my forum sig later this evening...............
