Re: corrupt root on rnd2000 v2
Have you tried using RAIDar to see the status? http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/20684/~/readynas-downloads?cid=wmt_netgear_referral?ci...
Also many people think they have a v2, but they really have a v1. Please check this guide: http://www.rnasguide.com/2012/01/09/how-to-tell-whether-i-have-a-duo-v1-or-duo-v2-or-nv-v1-or-nv-v2/

Re: corrupt root on rnd2000 v2
Thanks
i have checked the model and it says it is RND2000 v2 on the bottom of the unit.
the RAIDar programme says that the system is corrupt boot.
i have cleared the partisions on both drives using windows disk management. and also the unit fan just runs very fast and is very loud

If you mean the bottom front, then it should say ReadyNAS Duo v2
Did you use the procedure on pages 16-17 here: http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/RND2110/ReadyNAS_Duov2_NV+v2_HW_en_23-Mar-12.pdf

Re: corrupt root on rnd2000 v2
Hi dav3953,
Have you checked if these drives are listed in our HCL? Also, have you considered installing a fresh one?
Kind regards,

Re: corrupt root on rnd2000 v2
Hi dav3953,
Thanks for the information. If that's the case, we couldn't tell if these drives are still healthy enough for you to use them in your system. Using a fresh drive or a spare (that works) would tell us if this is a problem with the chassis or not.
Kind regards,

Re: corrupt root on rnd2000 v2
The drives seem to be ok, I have fitted a new drive, nothing changed,
The problem i have now is the unit is not seen by RAIDar and the fan runs at top speed for ever!
Is the unit broken?

Re: corrupt root on rnd2000 v2
Hi dav3953,
From what it looks, the system or chassis might be broken or something. Can you try to boot it up without any HDDs or drives and tell us if it has the same behavior?
Kind regards,
BrianL
