http public share with WebDAV access (RN314)
I want to do something simple (i think), but i can't do it 😞
I want to have a public http folder with read access to EveryOne, but with read/write access to users of certain group using WebDAV.
I can only get one of my objectives:
Without access to everyone in http, login is required to access the share, so it is no public.
With everyone access and admin user with rw access to the folder, everyone can edit the share.
With everyone access and forbidding access to admin user, everyone has read access but nobody can edit.
What set of permissions can i use?

Re: http public share with WebDAV access (RN314)
Hello,
I have a question. Your last two attempts configured access for the admin. However, looking at the "Network Access"-Tab on the ReadyNAS admin page you cannot configure access for the admin for the http protocol. Could you please check, that you did not configure SMB by accident?
Unfortuantely, I cannot try the following configuration at the moment, but I would set access to "Everyone" in the "Network Access"-Tab / "http", read access for "Everyone" in the "File Access"-Tab and R/W access for the relevant group under the "File Access"-Tab.
It might be that the system still asks for credentials, but any credentials should work for read access. Also, when you test your system, do you run the test from different computers? Otherwise make sure that you run the net use * /delete command (when using Windows) once in a while.
Bye,
Eskender

Re: http public share with WebDAV access (RN314)
No, SMB access is disabled for that folder. I tried to configure the HTTP tab with Everyone access and webdav enabled or enabling only the rw groups i want, but in that case credentials are required for readonly access too. Admin user can't be restricted specifically, i tried it playing with folder ownership and owner permissions. If admin user has rw access to the folder, Everyone has rw access to the folder; You can uncheck Everyone file access, it is the same, filesystem permissions are ignored if admin user has write access, and admin user is the owner of the uploaded files. If you check in http tab another groups, then filesystem permissions work as expected (uploaded files belongs to the authed user, not admin user), but you lose readonly access for everyone.
I'm testing from local network (linux machine) and an external connection (android device). Same results.
