iSCSI targets in one large volume?

Several years ago, I implemented a ReadyNAS 3200 with 12 - 2 TB drives. We use this to store large video files. I was unable to create one large volume in which to create separate iSCSI targets. I believe it was a limitation of the firmware available at the time (RAIDiator 4.2.8 ), which we are still running. I ended up creating two volumes, one about 13 TB and the other about 3.6 TB, then creating the iSCSI targets within each volume.

I'm wondering if that limitation still exists. The goal is to have one large volume with 6 iSCSI targets since I have another application coming online that needs to store video files on this NAS and I want to get as much storage as possible.

Thanks for any assistance.

To have one large target over 16TB, you would likely have to factory default to create a new file system. You would have to backup all data, then restore it afterwards.

It came out of the box with factory defaults did it not? If I couldn't create one large volume then, how would it be any different now?

You would have to update the firmware before doing a factory default to get a clean setup on newer firmware.

The iSCSI functionality has improved a lot since 4.2.8.

So if important data is backed up I would start by doing a firmware update

File system creation has changed over the firmwares. Factory default from a 4.2.8 and a 4.2.22 is different. Enhancements were made to better handle >16TB.
