readynas 516 idoes not work well with vsphere 5.5, WHY??
the iSCSI LUN/datastore disappears, the OS gets corrupted and must be rebuilt, etc. etc.
have the most current firmware on the readynas
vsphere is 5.5 u2 version
can not add the readynas as nfs storage at all...
today i was shocked to discover the readynas 516 is not on the vsphere HCL for any versions of vsphere...
why is netgear so lax in having its products be compatible with vsphere??
also it was/is impossible to get the readynas attached as NFS storage...!!!
suggestions anyone?????

What kind of LUN are you creating (thin/thick)?

Yes, it should be thick with the checksum option disabled and snapshots disabled for the LUN.

OIC -- once the NAS is rebooted I changed my mind and will use the ReadyNAS as nfs storage instead, easier and less hassle to configure.
Thank you again for helping me out, today I just now finally learned the correct way to set up the ReadyNAS as NFS storage...I did non recall/know about putting the volume name before the share and that did the trick.
Thank you, Tom
