unable to copy files: "not enough space"
Hi,
I have a ReadyNas Ultra 4 for which Frontview shows "787 GB (57%) of 1377 GB used ". I am unable to copy any files to the default 'media' share, although the Transmission add-on does not have any problem downloading new files to this share.
When trying to copy files (either from Win 7 on LAN or from another share) I get a message "... not enough space ... delete or move files ... ", but even after deleting several Gb worth of files, I still cannot copy any files, with the same message popping up.
I am unable to copy large files of 1 - 2 Gb size but don't have any problem copying small files (~100 Kb).
Can someone please help me with this?

Re: unable to copy files: "not enough space"
This sounds unusual. Maybe you should submit a support request at support.netgear.com
How full is the Windows C drive? If you copy from frontview (either the web interface or with a backup job), do you see the same problem?

Re: unable to copy files: "not enough space"
The Windows C drive has about 10 Gb of free space. I am not sure how to "copy files from frontview through the web interface", and I don't have any backup jobs setup. But like I said, Transmission is able to download new files to the share without any issues. If I can find out how to copy files through the frontview web interface I will try that.
I had a similar problem with one of the user shares- unable to copy in spite of plenty available space (as determined by the quota). In this case I was unable to copy even tiny files of a 1 - 2 Kb. I submitted a support request and after much back and forth (re-installing RAIDiatior, resetting user quota etc.), it was escalated up to L3 support, and finally fixed remotely (through Teamviewer, like someone else reported in the forum).
I am hoping I can get this problem fixed this time without going through the lengthy support process (which also involves giving full access to the readynas!).

Re: unable to copy files: "not enough space"
http://nasname/shares gets you to the web interface. You need to enable HTTP for each share you want to access that way.
It is very easy to create a test share, and then copy an existing share into it with a Frontview backup job.
Basically the idea here is to take the PC out of the equation. Transmission working does provide some evidence that it might be a PC or network-related issue, but it would be nice to have more solid evidence.

Re: unable to copy files: "not enough space"
Thank you for the information. I had no idea about this!
I enabled http/s for the share in question (and another share, to copy files from). I seem to be missing something. It seems to me I can only copy files across folders within one share. When I try to select a file from share y, copy, then paste it in a folder in share x (through the frontview interface), I get the message "Please select the file(s) first ...".
On the other hand, when I try to copy/paste a file from share x\folder1 to share x\folder2 (something that I am able to achieve through Windows Explorer interface), I get the message "0 files and directories pasted".
Am I doing something wrong?
Edit: I was able to copy/paste a file after creating a new folder: from <share x\folder 1> to <share x\folder new>.
I have realized that while I can edit new folders (copy files to, delete etc.) created using the web interface, I cannot do so, with existing folders. Is there any way to copy files across shares though? How do I test copy a large file (from else where) to share x? I guess I will have to set up a back-up job for that.

Re: unable to copy files: "not enough space"
I have just attempted to copy a folder from share y to share x via a backup job- which was successful.
I also confirmed once again that I am still unable to copy files from the PC/Windows Explorer.

Re: unable to copy files: "not enough space"
Did you try a support request?
Also, do you have a second PC you can try?

Re: unable to copy files: "not enough space"
I haven't submitted a request.. I am hoping to solve the issue without involving tech support if possible. Like I said, I had a similar issue a few month ago involving a user share, and I wasn't exactly happy about the whole thing. If nothing else work, I will eventually go that route again, but hopefully I won't have to!
I haven't tried a different PC, will try that next. Thanks!
