AFP Service seam to stop or disappear from Finder

I don't see the ReadyNAS in finder anymore through AFP. Only SMB

If I restart the AFP service it shows up for a few minutes then disapears.

This just started happening. I have not did a factory reset yet. Hoping to get any other ideas before I do.

Thanks.

Re: AFP Service seam to stop or disappear from Finder

So, I shutdown my ReadyNAS and put the ethernet cable into the other LAN port on the NAS.

So far it has not disapeared. I am able to see the AFP icon in finder for the past hour. Usually it would disapear within minutes. Since it is the weekday, I am not on my Mac as often as the weekend. So I will see if this actually works throughout the week and into the weekend.

Re: AFP Service seam to stop or disappear from Finder

I am begining to think this is a Sierra bug or maybe something to do with my new Cable modem/Router package that I got from my cable company.

This is really annoying.

I just purchased a new NAS RN214 and have the same issue.

Hello vukodlak,

How about connecting the NAS straight to the computer, use RAIDar to see its current IP address and put a static IP address to the network settings of the computer that is in the same IP subnet of the NAS', then try testing AFP, I suggest you check SMB too. In that way, you are isolating the problem.

Re: AFP Service seam to stop or disappear from Finder

That works.

So now I ended up checking a few other things.

This issue seems to affecet me only when on WiFi at home. If I connect with ethernet I have no issues seeing the the service in finder.

This just started happenning with this new modem/router that the cable Co gave me so now I need to figure out why.

Thanks

I'll have to go over my network setup and see if I can fix this

Hello vukodlak,

I see.

That seems tohave something to do with the network connection. You might need to check this with the router support people.

Re: AFP Service seam to stop or disappear from Finder

I got myself a new Cable Modem/Router and everything is working great now. No more disapearing services/shares.

One more thing, I see the sight has changed a bit. Anyone else having issues logging into the Communities via Safari?

Re: AFP Service seam to stop or disappear from Finder

So, I have finally figured it out. The new modem was not the answer. I had everything disconnected except my mbp and the NAS. It was working fine until I started connecting other devices. It turns out that as soon as I connect my WDTVLiveHUB then I no longer see NAS(AFP) and NAS (SMB) in the finder. When I disconnect the WDTVLiveHUB those two show back up. I did this multiple times with the same result.

this is strange. I guess it's time to get rid of the WDTVLiveHUB, lol.
