I've got a ReadyNas 516 and have bonded the 2 NICs on it. Is there a way to add a 3rd 1000mbps NIC perhaps USB expansion and include it in the bond?

No. Anyway USB is resource intensive so the performance may not be what you would hope for.
The RN716X has two 10GBase-T ports. That would be a better option.

Re: Another NIC for ReadyNas 516
Dang. I already have a 516. Not sure I can get my husband to approve the 716. Maybe I'll ask for it for christmas. 🙂
