Back up to USB fails after reboot Netgear Ready NAS ultra 2
I have just attached a new USB drive for back up of the NAS.
But due to some difficulties with hang on my NAS device I have scheduled power down twice a week.
After theese reeboots the NAS does not find my USB drive and back up faills and I have to reconnect the USB drive.
As a solution I have stopped rebooting.
However I do want to keep rebooting.
Any tip?
I would suggest a rediscovery of USB devices in start upp after power down.
This will emply a new firmware for the device.

Welcome to the community!
Which Firmware is running in your unit? Have you tested another external USB storage to isolate the problem? Perhaps connect the said external USB storage to a PC and run the disk-error checking tool to scan/fix if it has errors. With regard to your idea, I suggest that you make a new post here.

FIrmware 4.2.28
This ONLY occurs after power down. When the NAS poweres up it does not find the USB disk.
If I reonnect the USB disk/cable the back up completes with out any errors.
I consider the USB to be ruled out.
If I leave the power on (deletes the scheduled repowering) the back up works.
However repowering have made the NAS hang less often than earlier.
The error is in communication between NAS and USB disk on power up.

Which USB port is the disk connected to?
If you download the logs, what is the date in bios_ver.log?

I have had similar problems with external USB's going into sleep mode. What brand/model USB drive are you using?
