Error creating user with high userid on ReadyNAS

I was trying to create a user with a userid of 53205 as it should match a user on another (Linux) system, but the Web interface to the ReadyNAS gave me an error about incorrect userid.  I could easily create the user from a root shell using useradd and the user surely exists from the Linux perspective.  Why wouldn't the web interface allow this userid?

Re: Error creating user with high userid on ReadyNAS

Hi @bengsig

Though you can add a user with a specified UID using the administration page, there's a limitation set on this (I tried setting but it won't let me past 32766, I get the same error). If you are comfortable using SSH then you might be able to do that from that end or might be able to set a higher bar on the UID range.

Other Community members might be able to help on this.

Hope this helps as well.

Regards

Re: Error creating user with high userid on ReadyNAS

I can surely use 'useradd' directly as root from ssh, so that solution works for me.  However, I do find the 32766 limit somwhat arbitrary.
