Frontview Not Loadinging After Addin Install - ReadyNAS Pro RNDP6000

We have a ReadyNAS Pro RNDP6000 which has been running fine for a number of years.

Recently we upgraded to firmware release 4.2.30.

We installed the SSH add-in to the ReadyNAS so we could look at preparing a simple script to remotely shutdown the ReadyNAS.

After installing the SSH add-in and rebooting the ReadyNAS we have lost access via FrontView and can't login via this method. Our browser says 'Firefox can’t establish a connection to the server'. We can login to the ReadyNAS via SSH using 'root' as the admin username. Access to shares on the ReadyNAS is unaffected.

We have tried different workstations, different browsers and restarting the ReadyNAS without success.

Our questions follow :

Q1. Is there a way to test that Frontview is loaded and running on the ReadyNAS via logging-in through SSH ?

Q2. If Frontview is not running is there a way to restart it on the ReadyNAS via logging-in through SSH ?

Q3. Is there a method to reinstall / reinitialise the firmware only (ours is 4.2.30) via a special startup sequence incorporating the reset pushbutton (or other) as there seems to be different methods for different versions of ReadyNAS. We understand that there is a possibility that if the wrong sequence is used it may lead to erasing the data on the ReadyNAS.

Re: Frontview Not Loadinging After Addin Install - ReadyNAS Pro RNDP6000

We have been able to resolve this problem with some additional technical assistance.

We used the root login via SSH to analyse the NAS and determine that it had been reset to listen on Port 22 for access.

Retracing our steps following the firware upgrade to Radiator 4.2.30 - in trying to get SSH to work (before recognising we needed to load the ReadyNAS SSH add-on) we changed (via Frontview) Services -> Standard File Protocols -> HTTPS -> Port 2 (null to 22) believing this was needed for SSH access via Putty.exe. When we still could not get SSH access via Putty.exe we eventually found and loaded the ReadyNAS SSH add-on. This required a reboot of the NAS and while SSH then worked, we were locked out of Frontview as this was incorrectly listening on Port 22.

With Frontview access working we immediately changed Services -> Standard File Protocols -> HTTPS -> Port 2 (22 to null) to prevent future problems.

What did you install?

Sounds like you've broken the apache config. An OS Re-install won't fix a SSH mishap like this.

Thank you for the link.

Following your reply we did locate our original resource CD for this model.

It confirms the available boot menu options.

We will follow-up.

Re: Frontview Not Loadinging After Addin Install - ReadyNAS Pro RNDP6000

For root access via SSH we installed the Netgear add-in EnableRootSSH_1.0-x86.bin (for Radiator 4.2.x). We are running the latest firmware revision for Radiator 4.2.30.
