Missing storage on ReadyNAS 2120

ReadyNAS 2120 running 6.2.2

From the web control panel, it shows 155.62 GB free of 2.61 TB. That means that 2.455 TB is used

However, if I ssh in, and su to root, then from the root execute "du -h --max-depth=2" it only finds 1.6T. That number seems about right as I have 672GB of SuperDuper backups, 910GB of Timemachine backups and 13GB of music. That adds up to 1.595TB

2.455 TB - 1.595 TB -> 860 GB missing.  About a third of the available space.

What's going on?

Thanks for any help.

But wouldn't storage used to store snapshots be seen by the "du" command?

No they aren't.   And even if they were, the space usage would be misleading.  Snapshots are built into the btrfs file system, which uses COW.  They take no space when they are first taken, but gradually take up space when the files in the parent share change.

How are snapshots controlled, and where are they stored?

They are controlled for each share (the automatic rate is a share setting).  If you select a share in the admin ui, and then select "recover' you can see them.  You can also delete them from there.

6.4 should let you see the total snapshot usage- earlier releases do not.

Do you have snapshots enabled?

According to the logs, Snapshots are being created and deleted.

But wouldn't storage used to store snapshots be seen by the "du" command?

Re: Missing storage on ReadyNAS 2120

Yep, that was it. Installed 6.4 and deleted a bunch of snapshots, and now have 911GB free. Also turned off or modified the snapshot schedule for the variouis folders.

BTW, I found the download for the manual for 6.2 -- is there a manual (or update) for 6.4?
