Mixing disks of different sizes

Hi. My current setup is 3x 4TB Western Digital Red disks in JBOS format. I've absolutly no concern about data loss.
So, I'm just looking to get a 4th disk and wondering if I can fit a WD Red 6TB or 8TB and get the full capacity of it?
Thanks 🙂

I think you mean JBOD. Do you have one volume for each disk? Or just one volume altogether?
You can certainly add the larger disk as its own volume, and get full use of the space.
I'm not sure if you can add a disk to an existing jbod volume - not something I've tried (or want to do). I stick with one disk per volume with jbod.

Re: Mixing disks of different sizes
Oh, it's for a ReadyNAS 104 (I couldn't find that in the list) and the firmware is up to date.

LOL, yes sorry - JBOD! Not sure what happened there 🙂
And yes, each disk has it's own volume(s), there is nothing spanned across disks.
Great, an 8TB will fit there nicely so!

Avoid archival drives (SMR).
The WD80EFZX works well.
The Seagate equivalent requires removing the plastic insert and attaching it to the trat with screws. Some have complained about noise with the seagate.

Hi Deano1,
If you're able to test and make the suggested disk above work, kindly provide feedback by updating this thread.

Will do Brian - happy to be a guinea pig 🙂
It will be a good while from now though - haven't even ordered anything yet.
