NV+ & Virgin Superhub no connection
Hi I've searched but not really found anything that answers my query.
I've Inherited an NV+ which I've factory reset and had working upstairs on dhcp over a Belkin Powerline adapter. Works fine (if a little slow).
I've moved it downstairs and plugged directly into our virgin superhub in the hope of getting a better speed. However the NV+ doesn't recieve an IP, just defaults to 192.168.168.168. I've played around with a few settings but with no luck. Both devices have the latest firmware and have had factory reset. i've checked via the powerline adapter and on a shared pc ethernet connection. Both times it recieves an IP. and thoughts anyone?
Thanks

Re: NV+ & Virgin Superhub no connection
What is the lan IP address of the superhub?
What is the IP address of the NAS when it gets it from dhcp?
What is the "default gateway" setting on the NAS?
What is the dhcp range?
Are there any other dhcp servers on your lan?
Have you tried a different ethernet cable between the NAS and superhub?

Re: NV+ & Virgin Superhub no connection
Can you see the NAS with raidar when it's connected to the superhub?
Set a static IP address on the NAS and see if you can connect to it.
Is your powerline network connected to the hub by cable?
You have tried a different port on the superhub I presume?

Re: NV+ & Virgin Superhub no connection
Is the SuperHub being used as a VM Router and Modem combined, or maybe the Hub is solely a VM Modem and a router/switch is involved elsewhere along the line from the SuperHub?

Re: NV+ & Virgin Superhub no connection
Except OP says there is no other dhcp server on his lan, assume it is acting as router/switch.

Maybe reboot the SuperHub?

Re: NV+ & Virgin Superhub no connection
Mrmandrill:
If your router's subnet is set to 255.255.255.0, the upper end of the DHCP range should be no higher than 192.168.0.254. It should not be set to .255 because that's a broadcast address. The misconfiguration is probably not causing this particular problem, but it would be a good idea to correct it anyway.
If I were in your position, I'd start with the basics. Remove all but the necessary pieces from the network: Leave your PC connected to the router, but unplug all the other Ethernet cables from the router's LAN ports. Plug the NAS into the router where the powerline adapter used to be. Turn everything off, including the router. Wait a minute, turn on the router, wait a minute, turn on the PC, wait a minute, turn on the NAS. Launch RAIDAR and see whether the NAS has been assigned a good IP address.

I've tried a static ip which again only works via the powerline adapter.
I've tried multiports and yes the powerline is wired.

Being used in router mode with no other dhcp server on network.
No other wired devices connected, only Wifi

Re: NV+ & Virgin Superhub no connection
That is very strange. The only difference then is that you have a couple of powerline adapters between the superhub and the NAS when it is upstairs.
Are other devices getting IP addresses while connected directly?

Re: NV+ & Virgin Superhub no connection
Yeah the computer I'm on receives IP and works fine, same cable, same port.
It's a Cat 5e cable, would that make a difference?

Re: NV+ & Virgin Superhub no connection
Is there anything in the superhub log to suggest the NAS is making attempts to get an IP address, something like dhcp request?
The NAS MAC address is in your superhub MAC address filter if you have this on?
You did not say whether raidar can see the nas?
Did you reboot the superhub after connecting the NAS to it?
If raidar cannot see the NAS then there is a problem with the connection between NAS and superhub. The cables are 5e that is fine; and you have used the same cable that was used upstairs to connect the NAS?

Re: NV+ & Virgin Superhub no connection
No Mac filtering present. Error logs show nothing. Raidar can see nas, but only when connected via power line adapter.

Re: NV+ & Virgin Superhub no connection
I've run out of ideas. There seems to be a physical problem with the connections when you are trying to connect it up to the superhub.
The sunset settings are all the same I presume.
Do you have a switch that you could place between the NAS and superhub?.

Re: NV+ & Virgin Superhub no connection
If you haven't rebooted the superhub, I suggest that you do so.
Perhaps also try a different cable.
If you have a switch, I agree it would be sensible to try putting that in between the NAS and the router.

Re: NV+ & Virgin Superhub no connection
I think OP has tried various cables.
He hasn't confirmed whether he has rebooted the superhub though.

Re: NV+ & Virgin Superhub no connection
I'd like to resurrect this thread because I've just come back to the NV+ box and trying to get it working.
Since my last post I've tried to connect the device to to a corporate GB network and on several attempts tried to connect to the superhub again, nothing....
currently it works when connected via a powerline adapter, but not via any other switch / direct connection.
I've seen a few other posts out there about GB not working, any thoughts?

Re: NV+ & Virgin Superhub no connection
Gigabit works fine with my NV+. It's connected to a Dlink DGS-2208 at the moment, but it has been connected to my GS724T and my GS108T in the past. Link speed shows 1 gigabit.

Did you try a different cable? How about a direct connect to the PC?
