ReadyNAS 600 Boot Loop

I have an old ReadyNAS 600B (RNX7B2000) that is stuck in a reboot loop. I get the fast-flash power LED for about 15 seconds, followed by a slow flash for 3-5 seconds. Then all disk lights flash briefly, and it starts over again.

I have moved the 4 disks over to an NV+ and it booted successfully. Raidiator 4.1.16 is installed. The data is all backed up, so I'm not worried about that. A RAM test runs successfully.

Any suggestions about how to diagnose and correct the problem? Thanks.

Re: READYNAS 600 BOOT LOOP

Small correction -- this is a top-load 600B. Thanks.

Re: READYNAS 600 BOOT LOOP

Do you see any of these LED patterns?

Re: READYNAS 600 BOOT LOOP

I see three stages in the loop.

First stage: power LED fast blink, 10-15 seconds

Second stage: power LED slow blink, 5-10 seconds

Third stage: all LED lit for a fraction of a second

Repeat

I'm wondering if it's possible that backup job logs have filled the root partition. Would that prevent the box from booting?

Thanks for your help!

If that was the problem then it would have remained moving the disks across to the NV+.

Have you tried running the memory test boot menu option?

Yes, I ran a memory test and it completed successfully.

Re: READYNAS 600 BOOT LOOP

Are there any further tests I can run to diagnose the problem, or perhaps another way to try booting up? Would tftpboot be useful to try, or a USB boot image? Thanks.

Re: READYNAS 600 BOOT LOOP

You could try boot recovery I guess.

Re: READYNAS 600 BOOT LOOP

I've done a search, and I can't seem to find a link to a 4.1.16 USB Recovery Boot Image (or any older version, either). Is there one available for download? Thanks.

I believe this is the latest USB Boot Recovery image: http://www.readynas.com/download/support/ReadyNAS_USB_Flash_Recovery-4.1.14.img
