ReadyNAS Pro 6 - Cannot access admin page

Hi,
I have a ReadyNAS Pro 6 with 6 x 3 TB drives. Number one disk failed last week and I have replaced it. Raidar detects the NAS, but shows only limited information compared to my other Netgrear NAS. It does show 6 drives and says they're healthy. When I try to connect from Radar clicking the "admin page" button my password is rejected. Have tried to reset my password using via email using password_recovery - I answer the prompt question and it says that it has emailed me. But no email has arrived.

Final thing I have tried is an OS reinstall, but admin page is still not accessible even using the default factor password.

When i replaced the drive, I powered down the unit first and then rebooted. Sync took about 10 hours. Should I have hot swapped?

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Ross

Re: ReadyNAS Pro 6 - Cannot access admin page

Hello rosssh,

What is the firmware version of your NAS?

If you are running the 4.2.x which is OS4 that came with it, the username is admin and password is netgear1. If you have upgraded it to OS6, the password is password.

Welcome to the community!

Re: ReadyNAS Pro 6 - Cannot access admin page

Hi, Thanks for the reply.

Firmware is 4.2.30.

Tried admin/netgear1 and no luck i'm afraid.

I have tried reinstalling the OS a couple of times with the last effort giving a quick message similar to "could not extract firmware". There appears to be some corruption to the system software. The NAS LED is showing an IP of 10.100.164.15 while raidar finds it as 192.168.168.168. I cannot ping either address.

In desperation I have removed the new disk from slot 1 and replaced it with another. I have another sync in process (3.1%)

I'm running Raidar from the linux command line. Also raidar is showing only 3 disks, while the NAS LED is showing the full 6.

Commandline output below, if that's any help

Re: ReadyNAS Pro 6 - Cannot access admin page

Hello rosssh,

Have you tried removing one of the LAN cables and leave just one plugged in? You may also try https://nas-xx-xx-xx in the address bar. Letters x should be the last 6 digits of MAC address of the NAS.

Re: ReadyNAS Pro 6 - Cannot access admin page

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

I think the probem is with the firmware. Raidar can see the NAS, but only gives the "admin page" and "locate" button. It is not possible to access the admin page - "Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at 10.100.164.15". Raidar shows status healthy and all 6 drives have a tick.

When I try to reload the OS, I get an error "could not extract firmware" on the NAS display. It appears my only option is to copy the data on the NAS raid and then do a factory reset. I'm not sure if that will solve the "could not extract firmware" error though. I'm running out of options - the unit is about 5 years old, so well out of warranty.

Thanks for your help

Ross

That sounds like you might have a full 4GB root volume.
