ReadyNAS Ultra 2 after power outage, no longer starting cifs/ samba

Last week tuesday, I have had an power outage.

And so the ReadyNas Ultra 2 was restarted. It was running fine afterwards.

However in the evening, I tried to watch a movie, which resides on the NAS, and I was unable.

So then the investigation started, and I was unable to access my shares, and checking from the gui, cifs/ samba is not started.

and if I enable it, and press apply, it says, OK, will do, but nothing happens.

If I go to logs, I have no entries.

What I tried as fix, was to re-install the base OS, the non disruptive option, and this did NOT solve the problem.

What I can do, but only if you say it makes sense, is reset to factory default, and wipe the data, as I have a backup. But I see that as a last resort.

Do you guys/ ladies, maybe have any ideas ?

Yes I am. But yesterday started with reset to factory defaults. And so far looking good. Cifs is working again. Was rebuilding x raid 2. Taking time. Will update further later this week

Re: ReadyNAS Ultra 2 after power outage, no longer starting cifs/ samba

after digging further, I can understand the crashplan question.

most likely not the correct java version 7 or 8 was there, and was crashplan each time trying to update, this failed, but this might also have caused the filesystem to become full

to bad I am now in the process of factory reset, possibly I would have been able to fix it by means of ssh access, to create space
