ReadyNAS Ultra 6 OS Reinstall appears to have not reset admin password back to default

I had admin access to my ReadyNAS Ultra, but went to test the admin password recovery tool to make sure it was configured ok. The recovery email was never received, and testing the recovery tool nuked the previously set admin password. So I've lost admin access to my ReadyNAS Ultra 6.

I've following the these procedures for an OS Reinstall:

http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/22818

http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/21107

The OS reinstall appers to have updated the FW according to the NAS display, but I can't log in with "admin" and "password" credentials even after this.

I still can mount the NAS from my network. I just don't have admin access any longer.

What should I try from this point to recover the admin ID?

Try the default password "netgear1" (no quotes). "password" is the default password for OS5/OS6, not for OS4.

Hallelujah! That worked:

ID: admin

Password: netgear1
