ReadyNAS model RND4000-100EUS - replacement power supply

Hi there! I have a ReadyNAS box that needs a new power supply. The box and cable that connects the NAS to the wall socket that is, not the internal power unit.

I've found some on ebay, but they mention ReadyNAS Duo, and mine isn't one, I don't think. Also, there are 1TB and 2TB versions, and again, I don't know what I need!

Tried Netgear, without success (can't get through), so am hoping some kind person on here can help me. Many thanks.

All you need is the correct cable, there is no transformer.  The input voltage to the supply can be 100-240.

Sorry, should have made it clear - I'm after the specs for the power supply I need! 🙂

try a search on amazon using synology power supply yes not what you really expect. They the replacement supply works on readynas with a 4 pin plug. It will have the specs as well

thanks, but i'm not really sure what you mean, i'm afraid. i did that search, and just found a load of nas boxces. Anyway, my NAS box doesn't have a 4-pin plug, it's a 3-pin kettle lead.

I also have a model RND4000-200EUS ReadyNAS box. That does have a 4-pin plug, like a little DIN plug.

Re: ReadyNAS model RND4000-100EUS - replacement power supply

I am a bit confused by your post, because the RND4000-100EUS has an internal supply, and you seem to be saying you have a unit with a brick.

Assuming it is an RND4000-100EUS (ReadyNAS NV+ v1):

First, it is worth checking your warranty status (warranty is 5 years for the original purchaser), since Netgear will provide a free one if you are covered.  Also, if your ReadyNAS serial number is between 000DA2010FFE and 000DA2016000 then you are also entitled to a new PSU (due to a quite old service action from Netgear).

Assuming neither of those apply:

Replacement supplies are pretty scarce, and tend to be expensive..

http://www.ep-mediastore-ab.de/netzteil-220w-readynas-nv-nv-1100-p-18023.html

It is possible to adapt a much cheaper ATX power supply, but it would have to live outside the chassis.  Here's a thread that might help: https://community.netgear.com/t5/New-to-ReadyNAS/Replacement-Power-Supply-for-UK-NV/td-p/916501

Some folks have also tried purchasing an NV+ off of ebay, just to get the supply or other parts.  For instance there is an active bid here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Netgear-ReadyNAS-NV-4-TB-RND4000-100NAS-NAS-/281764338908?hash=item419a769cd...

Re: ReadyNAS model RND4000-100EUS - replacement power supply

Aha, now I see the confusion! No, I'm not talking about the internal unit, I'm talking about the cable and possible transformer that connects the NAS box to the wall plug socket. It will have a 3-pin kettle lead plug on one end, and a 3-pin 240 volt plug on the other end. Whether there's a transformer in the middle somewhere, I just can't remember.

My other ReadyNAS box has a 4-pin plug, that connects via a transformer, to the wall plug socket. The socket on this one is different.

Or can I assume that as the box I'm asking about has a 3-pin kettle socket, any old kettle lead will do, and it doesn't need a transformer, like my other NAS box does? I really can't remember what it had now.

This is what the plug that fits the power socket on the back of the ReadyNAS box looks like:

Oh, that's brilliant! That's why I couldn't find it, I was looking for something else! I've got loads of these leads! Problem solved, yay!

Thanks so much 🙂

Re: ReadyNAS model RND4000-100EUS - replacement power supply

I found a power supply, OEM replacement, on Amazon, albeit was in Great Britain, that was designed for the ReadyNAS NV+ v1, in May of this year. $110.00

Re: ReadyNAS model RND4000-100EUS - replacement power supply

Thanks very much, but it wasn't the internal power supply I was after, but a cable/transformer to connect the box to the mains. Turns out all I needed was a kettle lead. (I imagine this is a UK thing, as it has an earth lead. No idea what the US equivalent would be.)

So now I've got it poered up, I need to work out why I can't access all the shares, but that's another post for another time! 🙂

Re: ReadyNAS model RND4000-100EUS - replacement power supply

I had problem accessing shares after losing my power supply. Had to reformat ALL HDDs to regain access....unfortunately, that means lost data. Well, it did for me. Thankfully, the NAS was not the only place that I had that data. Now, I have 3 NAS devices [18TB w/RAID5], 4 external HDDs [8TB cap]...one can never have too much redundancy.

I had no issues booting up when I replaced a failed power supply.

However, a lot of posters report that they have lost data after an unexpected power cut.  That's one reason I always recommend a UPS for the NAS.

Of course a UPS can't protect you when the PSU fails.  Which is why (like you) I also stress the need for backups.

Thanks very much for the replies. I'm going to be away for a few days or so, but I'll get right on it when I get back. 🙂
