ReadyNas - RAIDiator 4.1.16 Update Emptied a share of all folders.

I updated my ReadyNAS NV+ to RAIDiator 4.1.16 10 days ago.

All the folders in one of shares disappeared today.

I logged in to Radiator and it was asking to be rebooted to complete the update.

The share was still empty after this reboot.

The logs say nothing about folders being deleted.

Are they gone forever?

The other two shares are still intact, but I haven't written to them since the update.

Did you see them at any time over the past 10 days?

It seems unlikely that the cause was the update itself.  However, if the file system on the NAS was damaged, it might have attempted to repair it when you rebooted.

Try running cmd (windows command prompt) and then enter

net use * /delete

net use t: \\nas-ip-address\c /user:admin nas-admin-password

That should mount the full C volume as drive letter t.  Look in t and see if you can find your missing files.  You might see a lost+found folder, look in there if you do.

You might also want to download the log zip file, and look in there for clues.

Thank you very much for the reply.

Yes, I was using the folder for the 10 days until they disappeared completely.

Thats when I logged into Radiator and the message said reboot. I simply thought it was back up.

I tried the commands which is a really good idea but I keep getting syntax and error 67 problems. Apologies, my programming is not that great!.

Do I enter it as all one line?

net use * /delete net use t: \\192.168.1.@@\c/user:admin password

After the first I get 'no users in the list' as a response.

And the second says 'network path not found'. I checked the ip address and it is right.

net use t: \\192.168.1.@@\c/user:admin password

You need a space between \c and /user

Spotted that and gives the network path error above. The logs say nothing about any deletion going on. Are there other logs than the ones visible on Radiator?

Also did you enter the real password for the user:admin?

There are more logs than are visible on the web page. The downloaded zip file has a lot more and is pretty comprehensive

As you've learned, windows is rather fussy about the syntax.  Spaces, slash directions, etc all matter.

The first command terminates any open network sessions - if there are none, it will tell you that, if there are some it will ask to you to confirm.

On the second command - if you are using the default password of netgear1, then you do need to change that password to something else before this command will work.

BTW, it is safe to post 192.168.x.x addresses, as they are reserved for private networks and are not routable over the internet.
