Replacing NV+ with 104 after PSU failure. #25507979

Can I install the old disks in the new box without losing data

Re: Replacing NV+ with 104 after PSU failure.

The RAID format and filesystem are different.

However if you purchase the 104 you could enquire about purchasing data recovery services and what is involved.

You would need somewhere the data could be copied off to (e.g. a USB disk) and to not insert the disks into the new NAS until prompted to by support.

It doesn't appear possible to obtain a replacement PSU for the NV+. Is that the case?

Hi sfy,

Is your NV+ a v1 or v2?  You can verify it by reading this link below:

http://www.rnasguide.com/2012/01/09/how-to-tell-whether-i-have-a-duo-v1-or-duo-v2-or-nv-v1-or-nv-v2/

If ever you have an NV+ v1, kindly access this forum link below:

Service Action to Prevent PSU Failures in ReadyNAS NV/NV+

If ever the serial number of your NV+ falls within the affected range, kindly contact Netgear Support for a possible replacement of the PSU:

Also some NV+ are still under warranty.  So you might check warranty status with Netgear.

Re: Replacing NV+ with 104 after PSU failure.

It appears to be a V1

The serial number I have is not in the format in the article. It is 23J<reset of serial removed by moderator>

Re: Replacing NV+ with 104 after PSU failure.

Yes, I looked that up and saw that you had a unit out of warranty.

Some older units had the serial number as the MAC address and a specific range of those units were shipped with a defect that could lead to premature fail of the PSU. Your unit is clearly not in the affected range, but if hardware is going to fail the PSU in a PC is a common component that can fail.

Re: Replacing NV+ with 104 after PSU failure.

Hi shaneyoul,

Support center already issued a replacement, see RMA 1553537 at RMA status

I think they will still give replacement for the PSU as long as they still have stocks available, but this is only for PSU not for chassis. Please check your supoport case again too.
