Upgrade popup: block popup or url?

Looking at the messages concerning troubles with upgrading to 6.4.0, I'd like to block the popup in the admin interface to prevent myself from accidentally clicking the wrong button.

Is it possible to remove the upgrade popup permanently, or alternatively, block access to the url that the OS checks to determine whether there's an upgrade available?

I run my own LAN dns server, so if I know the url it can be blocked.

Re: Upgrade popup: block popup or url?

Blocking access to 206.16.42.180 seems to do the trick.

I however don't know what else gets blocked this way. Try at your own risk.

That address is part of CERFnet (California Education and Research Federation Network).  Something is off here.

Re: Upgrade popup: block popup or url?

Well, something may be off but the ip address is correct (and confirmed by the absence of the popup):

# cat /etc/frontview/fwbroker.conf

# Configuration file for fwbroker
#
# The download URL template is:
# where:
# update_server_name - the hostname of update server
# path - path to the directory with firmware update
#
# The default values are:
# update_server_name = update.readynas.com
# path = download
# So the resulting URL is:
# http://update.readynas.com/download/ReadyNASOS...
# Uncomment to use develop update server

 # ping update.readynas.com
PING update.readynas.com (206.16.42.180): 56 data bytes

(server doesn't respond to pings)

Looks like they're still not giving us an option to not upgrade or be notified.  Thanks for the idea of blocking the IP, never occured to me before for some reason.  😄
