iCloud settings for e-mail notifications?
What iCloud settings do I use to enable Alert e-mail messages to be sent by my ReadyNAS NV+?
Here are my current settings, which do not work.
SMTP server: smtp.me.com
SMTP port: 587
From: myname@mac.com

Re: iCloud settings for e-mail notifications?
Yeah, I tried all that. Still doesn't work. Even logged into my iCloud account online to see if I was entering my username and password correctly, which I was.

Re: iCloud settings for e-mail notifications?
Are you sure - because your posted settings are not the same as that article?

Re: iCloud settings for e-mail notifications?
Information is here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4864
You have the server name wrong - it should be smtp.mail.me.com
You may need to select "use TLS". The "from" name may need to match your user name (which is supposed to be your myname@me.com address).

Re: iCloud settings for e-mail notifications?
Yep, I tried smtp.mail.me.com and TLS on and off. No joy.

And is your "from" name the same as your user name?

Re: iCloud settings for e-mail notifications?
Yes, it is. I'm running a check on my ReadNAS now.

Re: iCloud settings for e-mail notifications?
Server checked out okay. My alerts were working with MobileMe, but ever since I moved to iCloud I'm having problems.
I also tried port 25, which is another outgoing port you can use, but that didn't work either. In fact. the ReadyNAS just hangs with that setup.

Re: iCloud settings for e-mail notifications?
Check the log msmtp.log for more clues. I presume that file is included if you download logs, else you can find it via SSH at:
/var/log/frontview/msmtp.log
/var/log/frontview/msmtp.log

This is what I get:
Failed to contact SMTP server.

Re: iCloud settings for e-mail notifications?
Are your DNS settings correct? If you have SSH access can you ping the mail server from the NAS?

Re: iCloud settings for e-mail notifications?
I believe the server will not respond to ping. But "ping smtp.mail.me.com" should find and display the IP address. The actual pings will time out.
