Hi Ilovegamimg,

1. What is the driver version you use to install the adapter?

2. Can you see the adapter in Device Manager?

Hi Ilovegamimg,

If it is not being detected under device manager, please try plugging it on a different computer and check if it is being detected.

Hi Ilovegamimg,

Please check if the adapter under device manager shows "802.11ac Wireless LAN Card" if you put it back to the Windows 10 anniversary update.

Re: A6210 not being detected and no led light

Okay, I may not be a IT specialist or some High Tech Nerd BUT in my humble opinion the/ this problem HAS to be with the software!! I have/ had most of the problems listed here! I'm running the latest and newest Anniversary Update on Win 10!

I tried loading from the supplied CD rom. NO GENIE! I could see it go through all the steps to load it, watched it "APPEAR" to open, then disappear! If I do a file explorer I find the NetGear file/ folder under Programs Files(86) and see the installed program, numerous files so I "assume" it loaded the program but couldn't find the device. In it,  it shows [RT3070] DeviceID_1=USB\VID_0846&PID_9053

I then went and found/ opened the NetGearInstallLog.txt

Scrolling through it I keep seeing this in the install log report;

RetrieveHWID(): USB\VID_0846&PID_9050 hardware information is not retrieved.
RetrieveHWID() finished.
Device not found.
CheckDeviceExist() finished
RemoveInfFiles(): started. szParam=USB\VID_0846&PID_9050
Install completed successfully at 10-25-2016 15:00:39.

Now is this telling me in one instance the device is/ should be PID_9050 and is 9053 or vice versa? Are they the same or is the program looking for a 9050 and sees 9053 or vice versa and doesn't complete the install??

Now I DO NOT have a USB 3.0 only 2.0 BUT the package says it should still work! I uninstalled and reinstalled the program from the CD several times to NO avail! I went to NetGears web site and downloaded the most current install for the A6210. NO DIFFERENCE!! No Net Genie!! Again installing it, uninstalling it several times also!! After the botched install and hitting the cancel button, ironically the blue light on the A6210 came on and I had internet access!

I then went to Device Manager and under Network Adapters it showed 802.11acWireless LAN card! Now for the strange part?

Under Properties for the card it showed Driver Provider MediaTek, driver date 4/21/15, driver version 5.1.22.0

Where or how did MediaTek get onboard??? Did Win 10 just assign a driver because of the botched install from NetGear??

If I remove the A6210 device and go back to my A6200 device and install it EVERYTHING is there, Net Genie AND IT FINDS THE DEVICE AND INSTALLS THE DRIVERS FOR IT!! Did whomever wrote/ compiled the install program for the A6210 not update it to find a 9053 for the A6210 instead of a 9050 or what???

I'm not sure if this will be posted as a reply to you or the discussion group or if some NetGear moderator will see it and forward it to one of the programers. It's only my HUMBLE opinion that this is a "SOFTWARE" problem NOT the adapter itself! My adapter IS working!! Using the MediaTek drivers I'm getting BLINDING download speeds!!

At this point in time the USB Adapter IS working. I and it appears several others as well DO NOT have Net Genie available to monitor the status of the adapter!!

Adapter 1, program 0, goose egg, nada, zippo!

Re: A6210 not being detected and no led light

Am I understanding this correctly? In order to install the A6210 I just bought, I have to figure out how to go back to an earlier version of Windows 10? That can't be right; it would make more sense to take it back to the store and get a different product.

I've tried it on the desktop for which I bought it and also on my laptop. I can't see any LED light either way and am not sure even where it is.

Re: A6210 not being detected and no led light

I bought this today as it got good reviews on Amazon. I plugged it in and got the same message as a lot of people onhere, 'Not detected' when the software asks you to plug in the adapter.

I spoke to live chat and they said reverty back to the previous version iof windows before the anniversary update. I can't as its over 10 days since i updated.

They basically said to me, our developers are working on a fix. So in short I have a new £25 brick / doorstop until a fix is worked out. Surely between Microsoft and Netgear this can be worked out. How long do I have to wait for a software fix or do i just send it back for a refund and buy another make of adapter that works as promised.

Re: A6210 not being detected and no led light

Hey man, ive had the same problem and i fixed it by downgrading windows 10 update. Since they removed the downgrade button u need to downgrade to your first Operating system or just wait. Netgear is taking a long time to fix the problem.

Re: A6210 not being detected and no led light

Same thing happened to me and on the advice of support I threw away an older model because they said it no longer was working ... so I spent good money on a new one that does not work and trashed a perfectly good one... thanks netgear for wasting my time and money!

As far as the roll back option goes if Netgear had said this in the begining I could have saved hours upon hours of time and money, but now it is past 10 days and too late!

Re: A6210 not being detected and no led light

What gets me is that this HAS BEEN ONGOING for about (?) a month yet it seems NO ANSWER is in sight! Come on Netgear, WHAT GIVES??? The very least you could do is say "we're working on it"! I've seen roll back on Win 10 update (which is VERY stupid as the updates usually contain security patches), I've seen nothing I tried works, I've seen rolled back to an earlier version of Netgear Genie, ALL to no avail!

I've even tried to contact Netgear via email about it and asked for resolution to no avail! I'm still waiting for ANY type of response!! I've stated that the forums are showing some less then "happy" customers and told them that this is NOT good for business!

Please see my long post more towards the top of this forum, where I tried, evidently in vain, to help out the moderators/ programers with this problem!

One thing to try is this:

After my last botched install and hitting the cancel button, ironically the blue light on the A6210 came on on my A6210 and I had internet access! Maybe try cancelling the install after it stalls with Device not found, unplug the adapter, replugging in the adapter and see if Win 10 picks it up and assigns the driver! If it does and shows the MediaTek driver you're off to the races!!

After the A6210 started working, I went to Device Manager and under Network Adapters it showed 802.11acWireless LAN card! Now for the strange part?

Under Properties for the card it showed Driver Provider MediaTek, driver date 4/21/15, driver version 5.1.22.0 which long story short, IS the same one IF you could get it when Netgear Genie installs.

My adapter IS working and the ONLY missing thing is "GENIE"! The ONLY thing I'm missing is the Genie program.

Re: A6210 not being detected and no led light

Ok, I seem to have solved for my machine and wanted to see if it helped others on here with this adapter.

1. Run the file: A6210_v1.0.0.35 and as usual wait for the 'Plug in your adapter' message.

2. When you get the 'Adapter not detected', click Cancel

3. Leave the adapter plugged in, do not remove it and go to Device Manager.

4. Under Network adapters you will see: 802.11ac Wireless LAN Card

5. Double click on this and goto the Driver Tab.

6. Click on 'Update Driver'

7. Now choose 'Browse My computer for Driver Software'

8. Now click, 'Let me choose from a list of device drivers on my computer'

9. Choose Netgear A6210 Wifi usb 3.0 adapter and click Next. The driver will be installed

10. Close down device manager.

11. Go to your wifi / internet iceon in the bottom right of your screen. If you are wired, change this to wireless and then connect to your network.

12. The adapter should now be working

13. I then went to here: http://www.netgear.co.uk/home/discover/apps/genie.aspx?cid=wmt_netgear_organic and downloaded the genie software independently of the A6210 software and installed it.

14. It actually worked and now runs ok under Windows 10 with anniversary. Its a pain, I know, but until Netgear sort themsleves out it works, and to be honest the adapter itself is very good and when connected to my virgin Superhub 2 I'm getting 140mbs download. compared to 10 over my very old powerline adapters.

Hope this helps someone.

Thanks

Re: A6210 not being detected and no led light

I, too, had gotten my A6210 to work doing what you had done prior to your post via hit or miss. Unfortunately I didn't remember exactly step by step how I had done it. I also did not wish to have a useless piece of hardware! Your step by step directions ARE WHAT NETGEAR SHOULD HAVE POSTED on their driver page and also in ANY forum relating to this problem but as of yet I HAVE NOT seen such a post!

If you read more towards the top I posted (10/ 28/16) what I thought would have been the clue for Netgear to remedy this whole problem.

I'm not by any stretch of the imagination a programer/ IT guru/ computer nerd BUT my take on this is that the whole stinking problem is a Netgear program problem. PERIOD! Win 10, including the Anniversary edition and subsequent updates are NOT the problem as Win 10 DOES recognize the adapter!!

Repeat WIN 10 RECOGNIZES THE ADAPTER!

It's, IMHO, the Netgear Program that is at FAULT! In fact it "APPEARS" they think the problem is solved,WHICH IT IS "NOT "unless one follows koidave's GREAT advice!! Your advice will get people up and running again BUT why should we the purchasers have to figure out their programs PROBLEM!

To me it's a SIMPLE fix. If you check out my earlier post, 10/28/16, it seems THEIR program is looking for a USB\VID_0846&PID_9050 and the device is reporting back DeviceID_1=USB\VID_0846&PID_9053. Since it (program) CAN NOT find the device (9050) installation is STOPPED! I almost typed that I really miss the Genie program but before I did, I went back and REREAD your post, did EXACTLY what you said step by step and "viola" Genie is back and adapter STILL works!!

GREAT JOB is an understatement!!

Exactly how long would it take for a programer from Netgear to open up the file on the download page and either change ALL references of 9050 to 9053 OR make it check for either/ both 9050 or 9053 and install the CORRECT program???

To anyone having problems with the A6210 installation. Follow koidave's post to the letter and you should be up and running in "no time WITH NETGEAR genie to boot"!!

"AWESOME"!

Thanks Glenn1951, appreciate the comments and totally agree. Why can't net gear do what I did and post something online. For people who aren't really techies this would be an absolute nightmare.

Re: A6210 not being detected and no led light

I returned the A6210 AC1200 adapter to the store and got a Netgear EX6100 N750 extender instead. That solved the problem for which I had bought the adapter, which was the inability to connect to the router from a few rooms away.

Re: A6210 not being detected and no led light

Glenn1951 and Koidave thank you!

-- Glenn1951, your first note about MediaTek driver caught my eye so I went and just downloaded and installed it. Finally got the 802.11ac Wireless LAN card to show up in my Devices. (MediaTek, driver date 4/21/15, driver version 5.1.22.0) I searched MediaTek and that driver number and got a link that had 5.1.25.0 listed, but when I installed it, it showed as 5.1.22.0. I used this link and the top section. Click in the part number column to download.
http://www.mediatek.com/en/downloads1/downloads/

-- Koidave, I followed your steps to just update the driver for the 802.11ac Wireless LAN card to the Netgear A6210 driver instead of the MediaTek. I had to try it twice. First time I somehow got an autoselect of MediaTek. The next try I saw MediaTek and Netgear drivers show up. I selected the Netgear and got it working. First I tried to connect and had the most terrible speed. (Worse than my older WNA3100 with terrible speeds.) I thought maybe it was because my laptop started to download an update. (I sure need to control when it downloads them!). I disconnected because I realized I was connected on the 2.4GHz band. When I connect to the 5GHz band I finally struck speed gold. I have top speeds finally that match what my provider gives.

My hardware and drivers:

-- I have Windows 10 with the latest update as of 11/13/2016. (It just finished downloading them with my dirt slow speeds on my old WNA3100 earlier tonight while I was fighting the install of the new A6210 adapter.

-- I *do not* have USB 3.0 and was worried that was a mix in my problem, but it's not.

-- The Netgear Adapter is A6210_v1.0.0.35

So glad to finally have this working without having to wait and wait. I was ready to find out how to get my WNA3100 to work better, but finally got it! Thank you so much!

(I never bothered with the organic link you gave for the genie. It didn't make sense to me since this is an adapter, and my router had nothing to do with this install problem.)
