Re: AC1600 not connecting to 5ghz network
"Not connecting" doesn't give us much to go on.
Does it see 5 GHz?
What happens when you try to connect?
Do other things connect OK to 5 GHz?
What does the wifi come from?
What is the adapter plugged into?
Apologies for piling on the questions.

Re: AC1600 not connecting to 5ghz network
I welcome the questions. would love to get it fixed.
It does see the 5ghz
after typing in password it connects for ~10-20 and then says cannot connect to network
all my other devices connect fine so it is probably the adapter
Wifi comes from in house router
would it be a driver problem?

Alternatively, it could be the device that the adapter is connecting to the wifi.
If it really does connect, and then after 20 seconds it throws an error, I would check the network's properties. If this is a Windows thing, then the Network troubleshooter might help.
The adapter may be connecting to the wifi, but the PC (?) is not connecting to the network.
