New installation
I have just installed a range extender and adaptor at the suggestion of my internet provider so I can move my router to the part of the house where the telephone line enters. It is working although I still only download at 0.8Mbps!. When I boot my computer it automatically runs the network without the extender. Can I alter the network to the ext version as a default, rather than having to open the genie and set my preferences manually each time ?

Re: New installation
Typically with WiFi adaptors there’s an option to ‘forget’ a wireless access point, so do this for your base station so that the computer will only connect to the extender. Alternatively adaptors often have an advanced option to change the ‘roaming aggressiveness’ so that the adaptor will be less likely to switch between access points.
