Re: WNA3100 constantly disconnecting on Windows 10

Great idea.

I surrendered and ordered another wi-fi usb adapter. Different brand.

More serious.

Re: WNA3100 constantly disconnecting on Windows 10

To anyone that's having issues with this adapter, I've finally found a solution!
I disabled my motherboard's onboard LAN (wired internet) controller in the PC's BIOS settings - not a single disconnect since!

Hope this helps, best of luck!

Re: WNA3100 constantly disconnecting on Windows 10

@EdWireless

Just tried it but unfortunatly it doesn't seem to work for me. I diabled the onboard LAN but the Wifi adapter will still disconnect every few minutes. It's especially noticeable when I try to simultaneously download a file and open a web page at the same time. That will usually cause an instant disconnect.

Thanks for trying though!

Re: WNA3100 constantly disconnecting on Windows 10

I gave up after trying everything to make it work.

I got this: http://www.tp-link.it/products/details/cat-11_TL-WN822N.html

and it works flawlessly, driverless, in windows 10.

Go on, leave Netgear by itself.

I got this ASUS adapter: http://www.asus.com/ca-en/Networking/USBAC56. It's been rock solid from the day I plugged it in.

Re: WNA3100 constantly disconnecting on Windows 10

I had modems that worked fine with Win 10 until Microsoft did a critical update on the 29th I believe, after that they would not work and the setup disk said it did not support my operating system any longer, so I went to Best Buy and asked the guy what modem card would work with Win 10 and he suggested the WNA3100 adapter and ever since I've installed it it's had the same problem of dropping the internet connection like every 5-10 minutes, then comes back on for 5-10 minutes, it's crazy.  I want a constant connection and my driver is up to date.  The only thing I changed was the "let Windows decide to turn this hardware off to conserve resources", I thought that would help and it has not.  I really need help now.  I subscribe to movie viewing services and can't watch them.

VERY UPSET.   Please help asap by email.

Re: WNA3100 constantly disconnecting on Windows 10

OK, this is what I did and it seems to work fine now.  Go to Netgears download drivers and there's a 2.2.0.5 and a 2.2.0.4 (both stand alone and Genie), I downloaded them all. Then I uninstalled the current driver 2.2.0.4 from my computer through the control panel.  I tried the 2.2.05 first but it didn't fix the problem, so I uninstall it.  But then I installed the 2.2.0.4 that I downloaded from their server and installed both.  The stand alone driver vs the Genie seems to have fixed the problem.  I haven't had a dropped connection in four hours.  Good luck.

Re: WNA3100 constantly disconnecting on Windows 10

I recently had this issue and stumbled upon this forumn but found no results. However, I seemed to fix my problem. (I don't know for sure because it's been 30 minutes only but I think I fixed it for good.) So, find wherever the icon for your netgear connection genie is. By default it will be on the desktop but I had it in a different folder. Right click on it, and select "properties". A new window should appear. In this window, under "Compatibility" make sure that the "Compatibility Mode" box is NOT checked. For some reason when I checked my properties, this was in compatibility mode for Windows 7, and I think that's where the root of the problem is, because I never put it there. Check to make sure yours isn't in that mode, and it should work like mine.

Having the same issue, Constant disconnect win 10. Sometimes it will reset automatically. sometimes I have to hit "troubleshoot problems" ot the wifi toolbar icon. Sometimes I have to unplug the adapter from the USB to reset it.

Re: WNA3100 constantly disconnecting on Windows 10

Mine continuously disconnects.  If you have the receipt, bring it back to the store and return it.  Get an Atheros or something.

If I look at the Windows Event Viewer, I generally see a series of warning-level events from source NDIS, with descriptions like the folowing:

"The network interface "NETGEAR WNA3100 N300 Wireless USB Adapter" has begun resetting. There will be a momentary disruption in network connectivity while the hardware resets.
Reason: The network driver detected that its hardware has stopped responding to commands."

I see a bunch of them in a row.  The reset process evidently doesn't ever work.

Here's the procedure I do on Windows 10, every time it disconnects, courtesy of a nice support person at Microsoft.  And then it's ok for a while, until it decides it isn't.

1) Run command shell as administrator.  I've pinned a shortcut to my desktop and have a sticky with these instructions, because it comes up very frequently.

2) netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt

3) netsh winsock reset

4) ipconfig /registerdns

5) ipconfig /flushdns

6) ipconfig /release

7) ipconfig /renew

For what it's worth I tried everthing to fix this problem with this adapter and the A6100 without success until I completely reinstalled Windows 10.  That was about 4 weeks ago and I haven't had a recurrence of the problem.

Betreff: WNA3100 constantly disconnecting on Windows 10

i found a solution that worked for me:

https://community.netgear.com/t5/WiFi-Adapters/A6200-Disconnecting-on-Windows-10/td-p/981072

Step 1:Go to "Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Power Options > Change Plan Settings > Change Advanced Power Settings".

Step 2:Expand "Wireless Adaptor Settings > Power Saving Mode" and make sure it is set to "Maximum Performance".

Step 3:Expand "USB Settings > USB Selective Suspend Settings" and change Setting to "Disabled".

Hey guys, the "solution" posted for this topic actually does not solve my problem. I just thought I'd let you know that when I plugged my WNDA into a 3.0 usb slot, it fixed this problem for me. I no longer disconnect.

There ya go,

Re: WNA3100 constantly disconnecting on Windows 10

I was plugged into a USB 3, although it should not matter as the adapter is USB 2.

I fixed the problem as well, I threw away the worthless Netgear adapter and replaced it with another brand that works flawlessly out of the box.   This was the second major issue I have had with a Netgear product that Netgear had no fix for, nor would they replace. I am not mad, I have just learned my lesson. I will never buy another Netgear product again.

Re: WNA3100 constantly disconnecting on Windows 10

My adapter kept disconnecting even after I tried everything on this form finally I disconnected my external hard drive and for some reason it did not disconnect for a week. I plugged my external hard drive in and it disconnected 10 seconds later. I tried that with 3 different external hard drives one brand new and it still disconnects as soon as I hook one up. USB flash drives did not do this neither did anything else I had up to my computer. I don't know if this will help anyone else but that's what I figured out.
