michaelkenward thanks for checking. yes it's windows & yes it showed on device manager. not sure if you got a chance to review the troubleshooting log that lists the wifi network & access points. in any case, rebooting the router and re-attmepitng to connect worked a-ok. thanks again for taking the time to review & respond.

That's good. An easy one for a change.
It is all too easy to get sucked into complicated troubleshooting. First try the simple things.

You probably need a degree in network engineering to understand that stuff.
