AC750 Wi-Fi range extender

My WiFi extender works well once connected, but every day I have to cycle power to get it to connect to my device. It asks me for my WEP password, but won't take it when I enter it. Once I cycle power and it reboots, it connects fine. Setup shows it is connected properly, and I've updated to the latest version firmware. Any suggestions to resolve would be appreciated.

DarrenM,

Thanks for all the help. As soon as I get my adaptor, I'll reload the firmware and do setup again.

Hello Reggae

Is the extender a littler to far away from the router and it drops signal? If not have you tried to factory reset he extender and go threw setup again.

Re: AC750 Wi-Fi range extender

Hi DarrenM,

The extender is in range per the indicators, and does not drop the signal. Works great when connected. It just requires a power cycle for me to connect every day or two. I setup the Wifi extender via a Wifi connection. Net gear said I should do setup again using a hard wire Ethernet connection. Apparently the wifi connection is prone to interference that can corrupt the firmware. I guess I'll have to set up again using a hard wire connection to the extender per your and netgear support advice. Thanks for the reply.

Re: AC750 Wi-Fi range extender

Darrell M,

I have a Macbook pro laptop. once I get a thunderbolt to ethernet adaptor and shut off my wifi connection at my laptop, do i just do the ethernet connection between the laptop and the extender, or do i need to connect through my router (e.g. laptop to router, and router to extender)?

To setup the extender you would want to plug directly into it.

Re: AC750 Wi-Fi range extender

DarrenM,

Just reinstalled the firmware recently using a hard wired ethernet connection, the extender works well with all devices now. I also found out that there is a compatibility issue running netgear's genie app for my MAC running OSX El Capitan. I closed the app prior to reflashing the firmware, so not sure if the reflash of the firmware, or shutting down the genie app fixed my issue. I was advised to delete the genie app from my computer until apple and netgear resolve the issue. Thanks for all your help through my issue.

Thanks for that tip if that was what caused the issue.
