AC750 not seen by router
I've had this Netgear extender in wifi Extender mode for a couple of years, half way between my router and the attic, but it's been quite unreliable due to the distance. So i planned to use it in access point mode, putting it in the attic with a direct connection to the router via a long ethernet cable. Problem is, the router now won't connect to the AC750, even though there's a direct wire connection! Netgear put me on to a help line who said it was an IP conflict problem and wanted $100 to fix. I can't afford that, can anyone help?

Re: AC750 not seen by router
What extender do you have? AC750 is a speed. And you put D6000 in your signature which isn't an extender.
Firmware on the extender?
What router is it connected to?
Not sure how you contacted support, but if it was through google, it was probably a scam/con site.

Re: AC750 not seen by router
it's model EX6000. The router is supplied by my broadnband company, a virgin media hub 3 I think, their latest model. They upgraded it for me because their previous model also had unreliable wifi connection to the extender. Hence ny giving up and going for a direct wired connection. The firmware is the original, I did try updating it but it wouldn't work when I followed the steps in the manual, Page Not Found I think it said, I assumed because it's not a current model. Should I re-try that as a first step?

Re: AC750 not seen by router
with a hardwired connection, it needs to be setup in access point mode. did you do this?
there's also a forum on virgin media for connecting ot the super hub. here's one post for instance

Re: AC750 not seen by router
Yes it's in Access Point mode. Devices will connect to the extender but the extender won't connect to the router. I've even tried a different ethernet cable. Thanks to all for helping btw.

Re: AC750 not seen by router
What firmware is on the EX6000?
Have you connected a pc to the end of the cable to ensure the cable/connectors are good?
When the extender is in extender mode (not access point mode), does the ethernet port work?

Re: AC750 not seen by router
It's the original firmware, I was unable to update when I tried. I've tried different cables so I dont think it's that, plus the ethernet cable I tried is usually connected to my daughter's PS4 so I'm sure it works. Is the IP conflict mentioned by the helpline a red herring?

Re: AC750 not seen by router
If you're on original release firmware, I would try getting it updated first.
What issues are you having updating? be specific
You can manually update the extender. I'd recommend doing it over a hardwired connection for best results.
