Can't Access My Wifi Ext.net or 192.168.1.250

Flat out, I'll make this as basic as I can:

I can't access the my wifi ext.net or 192.168.1.250  to login to the extender.  I've tried Internet Explorer, I've tried Chrome, I've tried Firefox.  Every single time I get a "The Connection Has Timed Out" or something error.

I've already been to the Netgear page which is supposed to fix this, but nothing in there fixed it.

What do I do?

Extender works great, getting good speeds from both the 2GEXT and 5GEXT bands on my laptop and my iPad, I don't know why I can't login to the extender.

Did you log into the router to see what IP address it assigned to the extender?

No, I have not logged into the router.  Not even sure how to do that.  Shouldn't the netgear mywifie x t dot net website automatically get me to the extender login, anyway?

not all routers pass the wifiext correctly.

but the router does assign an ip address to the extender. If you log into the router, it should have an attached device list or the equivalent.

What router are you using?

@jstrehl Your extender isn't the same model as the OP. You can read through the thread to see what's already been recommended (and could well work with your issue) but if you're unable to get it working, please start your own thread instead of jumping in on one with different hardware.

Extender lights come on but if I log on to net gear all other apps become unusable? Haven't/can't register on netgear site to give as suggested password etc?.

mywifiext[.net] | [.com] does not pass the extender - the DNS query (permitting no secured DNS in the game!) is captured on the extender, and the extender's IPv4 address is returned. That's why one has to connect a computer or mobile to the extender - and explains why these two URLs can't be used anywhere on the LAN.

If the extender is linked to the router WiFi, as you already mentioned, it will get a valid IP for the LAN.

The default IP (192.168.1.250) is only in place if there was no response from the LAN DHCP server.

Open a Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, or other browser window and enter http://192.168.1.254 to access the BGW210 gateway.

Re: Can't Access My Wifi Ext.net or 192.168.1.250

So, my private home network is not 192.168.1.xxx. The default IP address of an extender is 192.168.1.250,   SO I had to go into my computer's WiFi network settings:

Change Dynamic to Static

Set Static IP to 192.168.1.5,

Set IP Mask to 255.0.0.0

Set DNS to 8.8.8.8 for now

THEN I could get to 192.168.1.250. Once you go through the setup wizard, you will not be able to get back to the extender, so then change your computer back to a dynamic IP address, and you are good to go.

Re: Can't Access My Wifi Ext.net or 192.168.1.250

The default IP for some of these Extenders is indeed 192.168.1.250/24 to be correct. The default subnet mask is 255.255.255.0, so very similar to many home networks. The only challenge (instead of reconfiguring everything in this case) would be to find the other device using the same address, reserve a different MAC address for the other device device.

Having the exact same issues.  Have spent at least 4 hours searching the net and Netgear web pages trying to get into Admin.  The nighthawk app is useless.
