you can go to netgear.com/support/ type in your actual model number. it'll have install videos, install guides, the manual ,firmware, etc.
its a great resource for new installs.
You also have the option of talking to support for free if its within the 90 days of new purchase. to do so, click "mynetgear" at the top. Register an account and your device. From there you can contact support. Keep in mind, if you're outside of the 90 days, it costs $

Just wps. What's smart installation wizard?-----2nd video on the support site. Hit the > button on the videos.
Checked the set up video which is great if everything goes to plan, but can't find anything in vids for troubleshooting

Try watching the smart installation video. I'd also try hardwiring into the extender for the setup. it tends to go smoother. Just make sure that if you're using a laptop, to disable its wifi or it'll remain connected to the wifi when you want it connected to the extender.
