Can’t connect my Netgear EX6120 extender via ethernet.

Can’t connect my Netgear EX6120 extender via ethernet.

Trying to setup my Netgear EX6120 in my roommates room via ethernet as an access point. I installed 100ft ethernet cable going from the back of our Motorola MG7700 24x8 cable modem/router.

In the beginning when trying to setup after factory reseting it, if the Ethernet cable was plugged in the Netgear extender it wouldn’t let me login to it’s interface to set it up.

Then I tried disconnecting the cable, logging in going to setup and pluging the Ethernet cable when setting up access point. But it will not register anything.

I don’t get it. It can sense that something is plugged in because I can’t login when it’s plugged in but it will not connect when it’s plugged in.

This thing is driving me absolutely nuts. Not as simple as it should be.

You have put the EX6120 into AP mode?

Visit the support pages:

Support | NETGEAR

Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware.

Check the section in the manual Use the Extender in Access Point Mode

Every time you reset the device, it reverts to extender mode.

While many questions about routers are generic and could be answered anywhere, some things need specialist knowledge.

You might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your device, in the appropriate section for your hardware. That's probably here:

You might like to search there for messages related to your issue.

I will ask the Netgear moderator to move your message.
