Cannot Configure NetGEX8000 Third band setupear EX8000 WiFi Range Extender
Why is there not an option on the smart setup page 192.168.1.7 to configure the Third (Second 5Ghz) band from my R8500 X8 router? So are there only 2 configurabe bands?
Also Im loosing 50% of my band with connecting to this extender. I thought through mest you didnt loos band width?

Re: Cannot Configure NetGEX8000 Third band setupear EX8000 WiFi Range Extender
I don't think you understand how the extender works. It uses one of the bands as backbone (ex: 149) to the router, and then it broadcasts the other radio (ex: 48) to extend your network. If it did not have a dedicated band for backbone - when you combine that with Smart Connect, your router will keep most clients on band 48, uses 149 to talk to extender, and the extender keeps clients on 48 again. That way you have highest bandwidth available.
If it did not have 2 radios, it would use same radio to talk to router and to clients. So then you have the max theoretical speed of 867 shared between the backbone to router and also clients connected to extender.

Re: Cannot Configure NetGEX8000 Third band setupear EX8000 WiFi Range Extender
I guess I don't understand then, I assumed when the EXT is advertised as a "tri" band, it produces 3 bands (2ghz, 5ghz, 5ghz) with each band capable of 400, 866.7, and 1700 Mbps, respectivly? And it was directly connected to the router through a direct link? So, the big difference between the EX8000 and the EX7300 is the one wifi name and price?
