Cannot connect device to AC 1200 wifi extender

I have followed the setup steps and I have the power and WPS light solid green on the extender. When I try to connect my computer to the extender I am asked for a network security key. When I enter the same network security key as the wifi router, as I am told to in the setup instructions, it says the security key is incorrect. I am 100% sure the details are correct. I cannot progress the setup until I can connect a device to the extender. Any suggestions?

check your wireless password for your primary router for special characters and spaces. Some special characters cause issues. 

Have you tried logging into your router and changing the wifi password? 

What firmware is on your EX6110?

What router are you connecting to? 

Did you setup via the manual setup process or the wps method? 

What does the router link light show on the extender?
