Connecting WAG302 to WNR2000

Hello all.

For the longest time I had an FVS338 router connected to 2 WAG302v2 access points (one upstairs and one downstairs for good coverage). This all worked fine until recently. I replaced the FVS338 for a WNR2000V3 wireless N router, as I needed to wirelessly stream large multimedia files downstairs. I disconnected the upstairs WAG302 and didn't use it for a while. I now want to connects the WAG302 to permit wireless access upstairs but can not locate the access point on my network.

The WNR2000 defaults to 192.168.1.1 and subnet mask 255.255.255.0
The WAG302 defaults are 192.169.0.230 and subnet mask 255.255.255.0 (the old router location was 192.168.0.1).

The new router does not find the AP and windows 7 doesn't find anything (yes, I have network discovery on). I'm not an expert with networking but I'm also not a total novice. I was always able to manage my network in Win98 (and got by on XP) but Win7 is saving me from myself to the point I can't get anything working.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Never mind, figured it out. I just changed the LAN IP address to 192.168.0.1 to match the AP. Anybody know why Netgear changed the default LAN IP address from 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.1.1???

Makes sense. They probably did it to keep the conflicts down with ISPs often having modems that use the 192.168.0.x block.

doesn't matter , netgear router will change to 10.x upon WAN/LAN will be on same subnet.

both 192.168.0.x / 192.168.1.x most common anyway

It's all about you know what IP scheme you are running and correctly updates for your needs . Don't expect all work by just plugging in.

Should not matter wether LAN subnet has changes. All those are common IP are used anyway so changes makes much of help either
