Connecting router led link

I have been trying to set up my wifi extender to a new router and cannot get the Router LED link to turn on.  I was able to connect my iphone however am having issues with my desktop.  The SSID will say connected but no internet.  I am stuck on step 12 with the instalation assitant.  can you help??

    What router are you connecting it to? 

    What firmware is on the extender? 

    Did you try the wps method? i usually recommend the installation assistant but sometimes wps just works.
