DHCP Reservation Issues Nighthawk X6 Router and X6 S Extender
I have been using the R8000 Router for a few years, with DHCP Reservation for multiple devices. I haven't had any problems. Being an IT guy, I like to keep my network organized. Network switches in one range, cameras in another, printers and other accessories in their own area.
Last week I added the X6 S Extender. My wireless devices can connect to the X6 S Extender, but they are not getting the IP addresses assigned to them. Devices connecting to the R8000 do get their assigned IP address. My guess is that this is due to the Virtual MAC Addresses that are being assigned by the X6 S.
Setting Static IP Addresses in the devices is not an option. In the event that I need to change something on my network, having static IP addresses set in the device itself could leave the devices unaccessible. Devices such as cameras and printers must have a static IP address, as other software must connect to them.
Both devices have the latest Firmware. How can I resolve this problem quickly? I don't play the back and forth games. As the manufacturer of both devices, you should be able to provide me with the configuration information. If you cannot, the X6 S is still within its return window.
Thanks, in advance, for your assistance.
Brent
