Do I want my router and range extender to be on the same channel?

Hi

I have a range extender and router (both Netgear) who are on channel 11.

Is this desirable? Deleterious? Non-consequential? Do I want them on separate channels?

There are several different ways to do it, your options may depend on which router & which range extender you're using, physical environment can also play a role in the decision. Separate channels, separated by a 5 channel spacing would be best, but is not always possible - if your router is dual band, you may be able to use "fastlane" which allows one band to be used to connect to the router and the other for clients, if not, configuring as a repeater is your only choice, and if that is the case, they must be on the same channel.
